Netflix wowed audiences with its updated take on the famed Archie Comics world of Sabrina. Instead of going the fun, comedic route of the ’90s version, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, this iteration features a much darker tone that includes more complex characters.

Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina boasts an impressive cast of characters. That includes the titular witch, the members of her coven, her classmates at her mortal school, and even literal demons. Some are evil and some are inherently good. Regardless of what they might seem like on the surface, some of these characters are just more likable than the rest.

11 Faustus Blackwood

Father Faustus Blackwood kind of acts as the series’ ultimate overarching antagonist. He has been the High Priest of the Church of Night and also holds the mantle of Dean of the Academy of Unseen Arts. There is really not a single thing to like about Father Blackwood.

He has shown himself to be incredibly sexist and is set in the ways of the past to a fault. While he’s done some terrible things, the worst came when he poisoned the members of the coven and then kidnapped newborn twins.

10 Zelda Spellman

It might be surprising to see one of the most important characters and members of Sabrina’s family rank so low. However, anyone who watched has probably been frustrated by Zelda. She, like Father Blackwood, seems way too stuck in the ways of the past.

She’s also a bit too strict with Sabrina at times and also treats her sister Hilda pretty terribly, even killing her at times. Zelda beats out Blackwood because she eventually goes against him, protects one of his babies, and is always there for Sabrina in the end.

9 Lilith

In terms of being an interesting character, Lilith would most likely rank higher. She first appears as Sabrina’s teacher, guiding her but also manipulating her so she can rise as Satan’s queen herself. That made her highly unlikable in the early stages of the show.

Since then though, Lilith has lost her faith in Satan. Watching her take Sabrina under her wing and help her navigate the perils of being the Queen of Hell has been a fair amount of fun. There’s a chance that she has her own agenda but most people on this show do.

8 Harvey Kinkle

When Chilling Adventures of Sabrina began, it certainly seemed like Harvey Kinkle would play a major part. He’s typically the boyfriend of Sabrina and is always at her side. However, Harvey has gone down his own path separate from Sabrina, even starting to date Roz.

Ultimately, there’s not really all that much that’s unlikable about Harvey. He cares for his friends and helps them in their fight against the forces of darkness thanks to his witch hunter skills. The issue is that he’s also kind of bland, so there’s not much of a reason to root for him.

7 Nick Scratch

Instead of dating Harvey, Sabrina ends up falling for Nick Scratch. He’s the cool bad boy at the Academy of the Unseen Arts and has instant chemistry with the protagonist. It gets revealed that Nick was doing the bidding of the Dark Lord, which hurts his likability.

That changes when he then sacrifices himself for Sabrina, becoming the host of Satan. He has plenty of questionable things about him, including some of what happens in his relationship with Sabrina but he gets the nod since he’s interesting enough to be liked.

6 Roz Walker

Initially believed to just be a regular kid from Baxter High, Roz Walker ends up being so much more. It becomes apparent that she’s actually a Seer and can see the future through touching someone. That makes her more interesting than most.

As a person, Roz is also quite good. She gets right into the thick of things with her friends, though she did hold an unfair grudge against Sabrina for the past acts of witches for a while. Her outspoken nature is also to be appreciated as she doesn’t back down.

5 Theo Putnam

Another one of Sabrina’s mortal friends, Theo goes through a lot in the early stages of the show. Formerly known as Susie, Theo is a trans boy who struggles with his identity and the way he gets picked on at Baxter High. That immediately makes him sympathetic.

Some of his storylines are lackluster (especially the one where he cheats to join the basketball team) but he’s incredibly loyal to his friends. In fact, Theo often acts as the voice of reason whenever there’s drama, be it between Sabrina and Harvey or Roz and Harvey.

4 Prudence Blackwood

If you only watched the first part of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, you probably disliked Prudence. The most prominent member of the Weird Sisters, she was very antagonistic towards Sabrina and was revealed to be the daughter of Father Blackwood.

It becomes clear that she just wanted to be loved. Father Blackwood rejecting her opened her eyes to his misdeeds. Since then, she has been a major ally for the Spellmans and has a pretty fun to watch relationship with Ambrose. Not many characters have had a better turnaround on the series than Prudence.

3 Sabrina Spellman

It seems like the protagonists of many shows aren’t always the most likable and that’s okay. These are flawed people who are meant to lead the way and Sabrina Spellman does a great job of that. Her most likable qualities are the way that she’s strong-willed, tough, brave, and always caring for her friends.

Even when she’s in a difficult spot, Sabrina typically tries to do what’s right. As noted though, she does have flaws. Her headstrong acts get her and those around her into a lot of trouble since she often does things without considering the consequences.

2 Ambrose Spellman

The Spellman residence is a house full of witches but then there’s Ambrose, the lone warlock around. The Englishman is Sabrina’s cousin and often acts as her partner in crime who always has her back. Ambrose is who she goes to for ideas, protection, and nearly everything else.

Ambrose is quick to help but he also makes sure to tell her off when she needs to hear it. There’s also his willingness to stand up to the likes of Father Blackwood and the brilliant adventures he embarks on with Prudence. Whenever Ambrose is on screen, viewers are happy.

1 Hilda Spellman

There’s just something incredibly warm about Hilda Spellman. Although she and Zelda take care of Sabrina, it’s Hilda who has the motherly nature. That is shown when she can go from comforting Sabrina to poisoning someone to protect members of her family.

Hilda also has a sympathetic side due to how she’s sometimes treated poorly by her sibling or her unlucky history with romantic partners. She backs Sabrina on a path to being good even if it upsets the coven. It also helps that Lucy Davis is wildly charismatic, making her even more likable.
