Everyone knows Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, AKA Captain America, but this actor has been in the business for a long time – and Marvel certainly isn’t the only role he’s had. From romantic comedies to dramas to action, Evans has proven time and time again that he’s one talented and versatile star.

It’s hard to choose a favorite, but he certainly has some roles that have stuck out amongst the rest. It’s time to get binging some of the best of this Chris, and celebrate his impressive range from comedy to action – and of course, that isn’t forgetting his time with the shield.

10 Lucas Lee (Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, 2010)

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is definitely the most hilarious flick on this list, but it’s also got action and fantasy all mixed up in it. Starring Michael Cera, this movie follows a young man trying to defeat his girlfriend’s seven evil exes.

It’s magical and somehow totally realistic and is a movie that’s so hard to forget. Chris Evans appears alongside Aubrey Plaza, Anna Kendrick, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and more.

9 Colin Shea (What’s Your Number?, 2011)

This romantic comedy was certainly one that got everyone on board with Chris Evans, and he was the perfect guy that everyone wanted to be in their own romance story.

Starring alongside Anna Faris, this movie follows a young woman looking back at her sexual history – and tries to find the final one to add to her list. What’s Your Number? is quirky and hilarious, and is undeniably a movie for all fans of Chris Evans.

8 Nick (Before We Go, 2014)

Before We Go is another romantic flick, and Chris Evans actually directed it himself. It’s still a comedy but certainly has more of a dramatic flair.  With Alice Eve, two strangers are stuck in Manhatten for an evening – and end up on an unforgettable adventure.

It’s wholesome, powerful, and totally romantic, and will definitely have everyone crying with full hearts by the end. It’s certainly not action, but Evans is great in it.

7 Frank Adler (Gifted, 2017)

Gifted might be one of Chris Evans’ most mature and raw roles to date, and it’s hard not to appreciate his talent after this one. This drama follows Frank, a single man raising his niece (Mckenna Grace) who is a child prodigy.

Trying to give her a normal life, he finds himself in a custody battle with his stubborn mother. Directed by Marc Webb, this story is mesmerizing, tragic, and absolutely beautiful.

6 Ransom Drysdale (Knives Out, 2019)

For those that will miss Captain America, Knives Out certainly filled everyone’s cravings for Chris Evans. This ‘whodunnit’ mystery comedy follows a detective investigating the death of a wealthy patriarch – amidst his greedy and chaotic family.

Directed by the talented Rian Johnson, this movie features Daniel Craig, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Toni Collette, Christopher Plummer, and Chris Evans as the wild, headstrong, and rebellious Ransom.

5 Jensen (The Losers, 2010)

This action-adventure is one of Evans’ most underrated flicks – and it stars him alongside Idris Elba and Zoe Saldana, who are some familiar faces in the MCU.

A CIA special forces team is left by their superiors – so they try to take back their power. The Losers is absurd, entertaining, and totally unique. It is a hidden gem that all fans of this actor must binge immediately.

4 Johnny Storm (Fantastic Four, 2005)

Before he was Captain America, Chris Evans was Johnny Storm AKA The Human Torch. This action flick has a flair of comedy and drama, just like every Marvel movie out there today. With Jessica Alba and Ioan Gruffudd, this might be where Evans first stole everyone’s hearts.

He plays the fire guy, and he’s hilarious, hot-headed, and totally lovable. Fantastic Four was one of the original superhero movies that everyone was able to obsess over.

3 Mace (Sunshine, 2007)

Sunshine is probably the least popular flick on this list, but die-hard Chris Evans’ fans will certainly know it. With Cillian Murphy and Rose Byrne, this sci-fi thriller follows a team of astronauts set to reignite a dying sun.

Taking place in 2057, this has all the sci-fi wonder for lovers of the genre and definitely sways away from comedy and more to the dramatic action side of Evans.

2 Curtis (Snowpiercer, 2013)

This sci-fi action flick is likely one of the best roles of Chris Evans to date and deserves far more recognition. Snowpiercer is directed by the Oscar-winning Bong Joon-ho and takes place in the future after a climate crisis.

Survivors live on a train, but that doesn’t stop them from falling victim to class disparity, violence, and poverty. It’s dark, suspenseful, and full of action – and is definitely a must-see starring Chris Evans.

1 Steve Rogers (MCU, 2011-2019)

From when he was first in Captain America: The First Avenger to leading the pack in Avengers: Endgame, Chris Evans will always be remembered as Captain America. This franchise certainly has the most action, but it also has a wonderful mix of drama and comedy.

Fans can’t think of anyone better suited for the role than Evans, and it’s impossible not to celebrate his acting career without mentioning this superhero role. “Avengers, Assemble!” will always be fans’ favorite Chris Evans’ quote.
