Chris Hemsworth Shares Hilarious Throwback Photo From First Ever Role

Chris Hemsworth has shared a hilarious photo from his first ever on-screen acting gig. The actor is one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, best known for starring as Thor in the MCU for the past decade. Hemsworth’s upcoming Thor 2 film, titled Thor: Love and Thunder is directed by Taika Waititi, and is scheduled to hit theatres in July of 2022 after the delayed Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Before becoming known as one of the world’s most recognisable movie stars, Hemsworth had a long stint primarily working on soap operas back home in Australia. He began appearing in movies in 2009, when he landed a role in J.J Abrams’ Star Trek as the father of Chris Pine’s Captain Kirk. Hemsworth has since appeared in seven MCU films, and is one of the few original Avengers to still be active in the MCU after Avengers: Endgame. Hemsworth has maintained a prolific career outside of the Marvel franchise, and the actor has become just as well known for his charisma and comedic timing as he is for his prowess in an action scene.

Now, Hemsworth has shared a photo to his Instagram showing his first ever on-screen acting credit. In 2002, the actor played King Arthur in a small part in the fantasy TV series Guinevere Jones, for which he was made to don a striking long red wig. The image is accompanied with a tongue-in-cheek caption from Hemsworth, saying that once he put on the wig he thought he might “never work again.” Check out Hemsworth’s post below:

Seeing the actor with a clean-shaven face and long red hair might come as a shock to some fans who may not even recognise the actor in such a different light. Since 2002, the actor has risen in fame to become a Hollywood megastar, making huge changes to his appearance along the way. Hemsworth now boasts the physique of a professional body-builder, and most often wears a dark beard and short hair. 

In Avengers: Endgame, Hemsworth’s appearance became one of the most talked about aspects of the film as he made the transition to “fat Thor.” In Thor: Love and Thunder, however, “fat Thor” is no more, as revealed by recent set photos. Fans will still have plenty of questions about the upcoming film, as the plot is set to centre around Portman’s Jane Foster as she becomes imbued with the powers of the Viking God of Thunder. The film will also feature the Guardians of the Galaxy, who Thor joined up with after Avengers: Endgame’s conclusion. With Thor: Love and Thunder and action blockbuster sequel Extraction 2 on the way, it’s clear that Chris Hemsworth has come a very long way from the wig-wearing young actor he once was, cementing his place as one of the most beloved figures in Hollywood today.
