Christian Bale was spotted with a shaved head for Thor: Love and Thunder filming, teasing for his role as primary antagonist Gorr the God Butcher. The fourth Thor film is deep in the midst of filming in Australia and Bale is just one of the myriad of stars in the MCU film. Returning for the God of Thunder’s fourth solo outing are Jaimie Alexander as Lady Sif, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster aka Mighty Thor, and nearly the entire cast of Guardians of the Galaxy. Bale’s character, though, will be in direct opposition to the heroes this time.

The former Bruce Wayne will make his debut as Gorr the God Butcher in the film, but just what’s in store for his character remains unclear. Set photos indicate that Thor 4 may be telling Gorr the God Butcher’s origin story, but how that fits into the overarching plot of the cosmic adventure remains shrouded in mystery. One thing seems clear, though: as usual, Bale is wholeheartedly diving into the role if these recent photos are any indication.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Bale was spotted with a shaved head in new photos released by Daily Mail at Sydney’s Palm Beach on a break from filming Thor: Love and Thunder. The actor is likely still in the middle of production on the film as his role likely requires he be there for the entire duration of filming. Other actors like Alexander have already left Australia, indicating that their time filming has come to a close. Check out Bale’s shaved look below:

Bale is known for committing to his roles, both in their physical demands and their characteristics. It looks like Gorr the God Butcher will be no different. Bale’s shaved head could indicate that his character will have heavy prosthetics and makeup or the actor could be making room for some CGI magic to be applied in post-production. Either way, it looks like Gorr’s portrayal in Thor 4 will align closely with his comic book counterpart.

Despite all of the leaks from Thor: Love and Thunder‘s set, much of the film’s plot is still unknown. How writer-director Taika Waititi plans to thread all of the disparate plots together, including the appearance of the Guardians, Jane Foster’s turn as Mighty Thor, and the God of Thunder’s own growth, remains to be seen. Thor: Love and Thunder has also flown under the radar in terms of fan anticipation, with much of the focus centered on the fan-dubbed multiverse trilogy and the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Still, Thor: Love and Thunder may be one to look out for as its early 2022 release date approaches.
