Claire Danes is the latest name to join the cast of the new book-to-series adaptation of Fleishman is in Trouble currently in development at FX. Based on the bestselling 2019 novel by debut American writer Taffy Brodesser-Akner, Fleishman is in Trouble revolves around Toby, who recently separated from his wife Rachel, as he sets foot into the world of app-based dating, finding more success than he ever did the last time he was single. However, at the onset of his first summer in a long time as a single man, Rachel disappears, leaving no traces of where she is or whether she plans on returning. To maintain balance in his life and figure out what happened to her, Toby reflects on what happened to their marriage in the first place.

Now, Deadline reports that Danes has joined an already star-studded cast of FX’s Fleishman is in Trouble limited series adaptation. The show already stars Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network, Zombieland), who will be playing the role of Toby, and Lizzy Caplan (Mean GirlsCloverfield, Now You See Me 2), who will play Toby’s longtime friend Libby and the novel’s narrator. Danes will star opposite Eisenberg as Toby’s ex-wife, Rachel. As well as serving as a writer for the series, Brodesser-Akner will share executive producer duties with Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly, Susannah Grant as well as Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris, who is set to direct several episodes.

Danes achieved global stardom after her Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning turn as the CIA officer Carrie Mathison in Homeland, which ran for eight seasons from 2011 to 2020. She is also set to appear alongside Loki star Tom Hiddleston in the forthcoming Apple TV+ limited series, The Essex Serpent. Danes’ character in Fleishman is in Trouble is said to be an ambitious and successful talent agent who struggles with her new identity after initially enjoying her freedom from her marriage to Eisenberg’s Toby. Fans of Homeland and Danes’ long and impressive filmography, including Romeo & JulietTerminator 3 and Stardust, would be assured that her new role in Fleishman is in Trouble is undoubtedly a great piece of casting, as she looks to add to her accomplished portfolio.
