Survival bases in Minecraft are not required to be boring and practical, as demonstrated by an amazing project of an oil rig turned into a proper home. While the process of constructing a survival base can be exhausting and time consuming, many players take pride in what they’re able to achieve with their limited resources.

As an example of the sort of work fans can put into a survival build, one dedicated Minecraft player spent half a year bringing their ocean monument Survival base to perfection. At 200 blocks in diameter, the enormous circular base hosts a handful of structures that surround the central ocean monument located right in the center. The aquatic palace has been turned into a home after a few modifications made by the player. According to the creator, the hardest part was to drain such a massive part of the ocean, after which building a proper base was a much easier task.

On Minecraft’s subreddit, user Saffinch_ has shared an amazing Survival base that’s been constructed to look like an actual oil rig. The sole idea of building a beautifully designed structure in Survival mode instead of a practical cobblestone bunker is inspiring. Additionally, the project puts on display a masterful use of industrial style in Minecraft. Saffinch_’s unlikely in-game home is located on a narrow river rather than in the middle of an ocean, which makes sense from a player’s perspective. To successfully survive in Minecraft, one requires access to all the basic resources and materials, which might become an issue for adventurers settled hundreds of blocks away from any land. It is worth noting that the oil rig base is cleverly incorporated into the environment while a bridge to it and a mineshaft entrance share the same industrial style.

Another breathtaking example of a skillfully constructed living area is a gigantic statue of a Minecraft Ravager with an actual player base on its back. While it does dwarf the surrounding environment, the build doesn’t look out of place in the slightest due to the fact that it takes inspiration from a pre-existing Minecraft creature. It actually looks quite natural, making one wish titans like that were a thing in Minecraft worlds. Such an enormous structure was built in Creative rather than Survival, but it does not belittle the impressive quality of the project.

In the true fashion of making a house a home, Saffinch_ managed to turn an industrial oil rig into a comfortable habitable space in Minecraft. It also serves as a perfect base of operations, fully-equipped for any possible gameplay scenarios. On top of that, the very idea of an oil rig Survival base demonstrates that everything can become an organized shelter if a player is keen on doing so. Even a particle accelerator could theoretically acquire the traits of a home if a talented Minecraft player is at work.

Minecraft is available on all platforms.
