The title of the first episode of the Clone High reboot was shared by one of the show’s creators, Chris Miller. Clone High first debuted on MTV back in 2002, where it ran for a single season. The series was created by Miller, Phil Lord, and Bill Lawrence. The animated show saw clones of historical figures navigating the tropes of modern-day high school. It featured Will Forte as Abe Lincoln, Michael McDonald as Gandhi, Christa Miller as Cleopatra, Nicole Sullivan as Joan of Arc, and Miller himself as JFK. The reboot of Clone High was announced as being in development last year, with the original creators slated to revive the show almost twenty years after its initial cancellation.

Miller recently took to Twitter to share a photo of the reboot series’ first episode title and writing credits with the message, “About to do a table read.” The episode is written by Lord, Miller, and Erica Rivinoja, and it’s called “Let’s Try This Again.” The title works as a humorous nod to both the cancellation of the original series and the nature of the cloned characters on the show. Clone High was originally canceled due to low ratings, though some did point to the depiction of Gandhi as problematic. The creators have gone on to massive success, with Lawrence creating Scrubs and Cougar Town, while Lord and Miller went on to direct 21 Jump Street and The Lego Movie. Lord and Miller have also become Oscar winners, garnering the award when Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse won Best Animated Feature in 2019. With the clout they’ve earned in Hollywood, HBO Max has already ordered two seasons of the revival series. Details about the reboot are still under wraps, but Miller has effectively teased audiences. As Clone High gets closer to premiering, further details, such as characters and plot elements, will likely be shared to spark interest as the show is set to have a second life, much like the characters it portrays.
