The Star Wars franchise has had some fantastic actors become part of the galaxy far far away. Plenty of talented stars have lent their voice acting talents to the Clone Wars animated series. Whether they make one-off appearances or return for reoccurring roles, these cast members have brought to life some of the most iconic characters from the show.

Some of these performances have even been award-winning, with some stars actually returning from their live-action roles to continue playing the same characters in the animated world. Some of these performances have even led to the first live-action appearance of these Clone Wars characters or at least continued involvement as part of the Star Wars family.

10 David Tennant

David Tennant has always been a huge fan of Star Wars. Having already appeared in massive franchises like Doctor Who, Harry Potter, and Marvel, Tennant has already built up a wide range of iconic roles in his filmography. An opportunity to voice a character on Clone Wars was one he couldn’t pass up, though.

As the ancient droid Huyang, he helped to mentor a group of Jedi Padawans who were creating their first lightsabers. It was a role he had held for some time, and Tennant brought the right amount of wit and wisdom to this storied character. He even won an Emmy for his efforts!

9 Jaime King

Jaime King has had a storied career as both a voice actor in shows such as Transformers and on-screen in productions such as Ocean’s Eight and Sin City, and she would find herself contributing her talents to a wide variety of roles in Clone Wars.

From a Nightsister to a Force Priestess and Cassilyda Cryar, there was one character she would become most well known for. King provided the ongoing voice of the violent Bounty Hunter Aurra Sing. The fabled warrior has a huge part to play in both the animated show and in the wider galaxy.

7 Jon Favreau

Jon Favreau has had a storied career so far, directing classics like Elf, launching the MCU with Iron Man, and even starring in massive sit-coms like Friends. The next stage of his career seems to be defined by his love for Star Wars, though, as he continues to develop spin-offs of The Mandalorian with Dave Filoni.

This partnership really found its footing when Favreau continued to guest star on Clone Wars as the Mandalorian Leader Pre Vizsla. As the head of Death Watch and the wielder of the Darksaber, it’s no surprise that many of these elements have been woven into Favreau’s Disney+ shows.

6 Pernilla August

Pernilla August is a veteran of the galaxy far far away. She appeared twice as Anakin Skywalker’s mother in the prequel trilogy. Shmi Skywalker was a slave who wanted a better life for her son before she was brutally murdered by the Tusken Raiders.

Shmi’s death is important to Anakin’s fall to the dark side of the force, and she appears once again in Clone Wars with August voicing the famous role. Her appearance is as a ghostly apparition and a forgotten memory, demonstrating Anakin’s continued mental struggle with the darkness of his past and future.

While she might be well known as Mira Bridger in Rebels, in Clone Wars, she was the ongoing voice of Mon Mothma, the legendary politician who would one day restore order to the galaxy. It’s an important role although she is later replaced by Genevieve O’Reilly for Star Wars Rebels.

3 George Takei

George Takei is a legendary actor amongst science fiction fans. While roles in projects like Kubo and the Two Strings and The Simpsons might bolster his career, he is most famous for his time as Sulu in Star Trek; a part he has become beloved for.

1 Jim Cummings

Jim Cummings might just be one of the most famous voice actors to ever perform in the business. A Disney legend and the iconic voice of Winnie the Pooh, Cummings’ career has spanned from classics such as The Jungle Book to The Princess And The Frog.

Star Wars fans will know Cummings by a very different name, though, that of Hondo Ohnaka, the galactic pirate who follows a very malleable moral compass. Hilarious, dangerous, and a real fan favorite, it’s a surprise that Cummings has yet to have the opportunity to voice a live-action iteration of the character.
