A team-up between Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffth) and John Kreese (Martin Kove) in Cobra Kai season 4 has big implications for the three dojos featured in the Netflix series. The two characters working together was hinted at in the season 3 finale and teased again by the confirmation the Karate Kid Part III villain was indeed returning to the Valley.

Silver, best remembered as the rich businessman and friend of Kreese’s who emotionally tortured Daniel (Ralph Macchio), is about to become the latest Karate Kid villain to appear on the sequel series. But unlike Johnny (William Zabka) or Karate Kid Part II’s Chozen, Silver doesn’t seem like the type to find redemption. Instead, there’s a good chance Terry will emerge as a menacing and formidable adversary for the Eagle Fang and Miyagi-do dojos. That was indicated in the Cobra Kai season 4 trailer, which revealed his grand entrance and an ominous line from Kreese mentioned Johnny and Daniel “won’t be the only ones teaming up”.

Kreese has been a major thorn in the main characters’ side on his own, but Silver joining the mix promises to make this conflict even more challenging. Kreese is already teaching characters like Tory (Peyton List), Robby (Tanner Buchanan), and Kyler (Joe Seo) to be vicious and show “no mercy”, so Terry and his evil methods could naturally push them further down a dark path. Or, Terry could inadvertently drive some out of Cobra Kai for good. As a villain who’s even more extreme in his cruelty than Kreese, a few characters may find themselves repulsed by Terry’s ways in Cobra Kai season 4. Something like this could be what it would takes for Tory or Robby to split with Kreese.

But before Terry sets up any redemption arcs, he’s sure to cause a great deal of trouble first, but not in the same way Kreese did in season 2 and season 3. The bullying tactics of the Cobra Kai students reflected Kreese’s callous nature, but it should be noted that Terry Silver will be a different kind of villain. Whereas Kreese is brutal and direct, Terry is charismatic and deceptive. Similar to how he tricked Daniel decades ago, he could use clever schemes to bring down the opposing dojos, and teach his students to do the same.

There’s also the matter of Silver’s money. Assuming the character still has his financial resources in Cobra Kai season 4, John Kreese’s dojo stands to benefit a lot from his presence. Cobra Kai having better funding would give them a distinct advantage over Miyagi-do and Eagle Fang, especially in terms of advertising and facilities. This could lead to Cobra Kai having greater numbers when the next All-Valley Tournament comes up, thus strengthening Miyagi-do and Eagle Fang’s image as underdogs.
