Firebase Z is Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War’s latest installment in the Zombie franchise. Perhaps the driving force behind the new Call of Duty games, zombie mode, has been held as the fan-favorite since Call of Duty: World at War. The Wonder Weapon was officially introduced as Richtofen’s invention. However, players had to rely on pure chance if they hoped to find it in the mystery box. This brand new edition may just be the most powerful weapon in the game, far better than the makeshift Mjolnir players can get.

Die Machine introduced us to the D.I.E Shockwave after completing a few easy steps to obtain it. It came with four unique upgrades that took the weapon to the next level. Firebase Z presents the brand new Rai-K 84, which, as the name suggests, is the love child of the Ray Gun and the Ak-47. The steps to unlocking the Rai-K 84 are more convoluted than the D.I.E Shockwave. It’s a classic example of, ‘How was anybody supposed to figure that out?’ Thankfully, we’ve got you covered. Here’s the full guide to unlocking the Rai-K 84 in COD Cold War Zombies – Firebase Z.

How to Unlock the Wonder Weapon on Firebase Z

Before players can even think about building the Rai-K 84, they’ll have to complete a few necessary steps in the beginning. First and Formost, they’ll have to turn on the power. Speak with Ravenov, open the first barred door, head through the teleporter. From here, players must activate and defend the three different Power Reactors to get Firebase Z up and running again. There are four parts that players will need to get. Here’s how to find each of them.

Part 1 – The Blueprint

Head right from the teleporter and through the gate. This will lead players towards the Weapons Lab, where they’ll find the Blueprint for the Rai-K 84. Inside will be a mannequin as well. Above a weapon workbench, left of the mannequin is the Blueprint. Grab it.

Part 2 – The Eye

That’s right, the next piece of players need to pick up as an eye. From the teleporter, head through the left gate and up into the Scorched Defense. Players will recognize this as one of two areas they need to defend from an onslaught of zombies around round 12-13. Hug the right side and head down two levels until players come across a destroyed tank with a corpse leaned up against it. They’ve found the body of Dimitri Kuhlklay, and they’ll need his eyeball. Interact with the body, and players will enter into an eyeball-retrieval animation. It’s exciting for first-time players; we won’t spoil anything further. Know that once the eyeball is retrieved, a handful of zombies will spawn, similar to how Plague Dogs spawn when collecting components for the Aether scope on Die Machine.

Part 3 – The Key

Now with Dimitri’s eye secure in their pocket, players must head back to the Weapons Lab and use the eye to interact with a computer. A drawer will pop open containing a set of keys. Players will use the keys to open the lockers in the barracks, which can be found by heading through the center gate. They’re the tents on either side. Open all the lockers, and 1-3 Mimics will spawn. It’s best to do this step at the end of a round while only one zombie is left to evade. Kill the Mimics, and one will drop the Barrel Assembly for the Rai-K 84. Players need to keep their eyes glued to the ground to find the piece. It’s often hidden in the textures of the map. Dr. Strauss will confirm when it’s picked up.

Part 4 – The Aetherium Converter

This might be the most challenging part of the entire process. Head back into the weapons lab and interact with the computer. The blip will move both clockwise and counter-clockwise around what looks like a radar. However, this is no radar. These triangles represent spaces on a dartboard. Players must memorize the three spaces the blip stops on and shoot those spaces on the dartboard in the Mess Hall. After shooting the correct spaces, shoot the bull’s-eye.

Here’s how to do this the easy way. When the game begins, head into the Mess Hall located left of the Pack-a-Punch Machine. Stand close enough to the dartboard on the wall so that it’s in full frame. Players should then take a picture with their phones to know which numbers correspond with which segment. Once they’ve arrived at the computer stage, pull up that picture and watch to see which numbers the blip stops on. An image of the dartboard is provided above. (Save it to any device). Pay particular attention to how the numbers related to segments 20, 3, 6, and 11.

After shooting all three segments, players must then shoot the bull’s-eye. If done correctly, the dartboard center will open, and the Aetherium Converter will fall out.

*Do not use a burst weapon to do this step. The burst fire will register as hitting the same segment three times and thus out of order.

Part 5 – The Power Cell

Players will have to battle it out until round 15 to complete the next step of the Rai-K 84. Here is when they’ll first encounter a Mangler Zombie. They’re heavily armored and extremely deadly. They’re equipped with a Mega-Man-like arm-cannon that shoots a deadly blast similar to stage 1 Megaton Zombies. They’ll warp around the area, so players will have to locate it and concentrate their fire to kill it. However, to get the Power Cell to drop, players will have to shoot its arm just before it fires its charged cannon. This will cause it to stagger. Do this until it drops the Power Cell. It may be hidden under the Mangler’s dead body. Take the Power Cell back to the Weapons Lab and charge it on a table right of the mannequin. Players will have to let the Power Cell charge for one FULL round. They can then pick it up after the round flips. They do not have to kill zombies near it.

Final Step – Put it all Together

Head over to the Weapons Lab’s workbench, where players first picked up the blueprint and interact with it. This will fully assemble the Rai-K 84. This new Wonder Weapon should carry players through round 20 in its base state. It can be fully Pack-a-Punch for maximum damage output. The Rai-K 84 will make a stellar secondary for any Zombie Loadout.

The video below from YouTuber Maka 91 Productions demonstrates the step-by-step process. However, he cannot build the weapon as it has been disabled for February 5th’s live Easter Egg event. Zombie mode has always been known for its extravagant easter eggs. Players are excited about this brand new one.
