Picking a weapon for fending off hoards of zombies in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War poses a series of decisions the player will need to make. Every weapons class has its advantages and disadvantages, but a few weapons shine in zombies mode. Suppose a player is looking to level up a particular weapon for Warzone or multiplayer– zombies is an excellent way to go about it, weapons level at an incredible rate in the lower rounds.  There are various stats to consider while choosing attachments, and with the right loadout, any weapon can feel overpowered.

In general, weapon leveling will be consistent up to round 30. If the player is looking to level a particular weapon, an exfil any round before 30 is recommended. It is also advantageous to obtain the Deadshot Daiquiri perk. If the player invests their Aetherium Crystals into leveling up Deadshot, they receive a significant reduction in hip-fire spread (great for akimbo pistols or shotguns) as well as a 100% buff to critical damage on enemies with full health. Though some weapons deal more damage than others, don’t forget to use some more fun and obscure weapons! Every weapon is a blast once Pack-a-Punched!

Some of the most important stats to consider are:

  • Shoot Move Speed
  • Sprint to Fire Time
  • Sprinting Move Speed
  • Damage
  • Bullet Velocity

The Best Assault Rifles and Submachine Guns in CoD: Black Ops Cold War Zombies

Recoil control is also important to consider, but movement speed will get the player out of more sticky situations than recoil control. Both SMGs and Assault Rifles received buffs to damage and ammo capacity upon Firebase Z’s release, so it’s worth it for veteran players to give them another shot. For the Assault Rifle class, players should look towards the QBZ-83, the FFAR 1, and the Groza. The QBZ-86 is incredibly underrated. It’s a fun gun to use, has low recoil, and with Deadshot and the Steady Aim Laser it’s a hip-fire headshot machine. The FFAR does even more base damage than the QBZ and has a faster fire rate. It’s got higher accuracy too, but lower bullet velocity. Last but not least, the Groza provides similar stats as the FFAR. It also has a higher base magazine capacity, plus quicker reload speed. These assault rifles are guaranteed to provide the player a good time.

Balance patches have happened since the initial release of Cold War, resulting in more suitable weapons for multiplayer. Submachine guns are good to level up for the other game modes and provide the player with the highest base movement speed. The AK-74u is an alternative to the bulkier Assault Rifle class. It has game-changing attachments, as well as high mobility. Another notable SMG is the MP5. With the correct combination of perks and attachments, the MP5 bring s run-n’-gun to a whole new level.

The Best Tactical Rifles in CoD: Black Ops Cold War Zombies

Though the M16 and the AUG have similar characteristics, there is almost no usage scenario where the AUG outshines the M16. The DMR is an excellent single fire alternative to any SMG/LMG/AR. While Pack-a-Punched, the DMR will eliminate zombies with one headshot well into the mid-round 20s. These weapons begin to prove their worth with a couple of attachments, especially the Raider tier of stock options. Tactical Rifles are best suited in an accurate player’s hands and outshine the assault rile class in every category except shots-per-second and base magazine size. With the addition of Deadshot, attachments and accuracy will significantly increase the player’s success with this class.

Other Great Weapons in CoD: Black Ops Cold War Zombies

Light machine guns are controversial in zombies. Many players prefer the faster reload time of smaller weapons, but others consider the enhanced base magazine size of LMGs significant enough to use. For this class, the Stoner 63 has proven to be the most versatile LMG, with arguments for usage scenarios leaning towards the M60. In the Sniper Rifle Class, nothing beats the damage and the movement speed of the LW3-Tundra. Pistols are a great combination of fun and difficulty, especially the Magnum with the 12 round speed mag. Pack-a-Punched, the Magnum is a headshot machine.  Shotguns are a toss-up between the Hauer 77 and the Gallo SA12. The Hauer has higher damage, but the SA12’s magazine is larger with a faster per-shell reload.

Meme Weapons in CoD: Black Ops Cold War Zombies

Though it’s impractical at higher rounds, melee weapons should not be underestimated. If the player intermittently Pack-a-Punches their Knife while progressing through rounds, the Knife will continue to be a one-hit-kill. Alternatively, if the player is looking for a slight challenge and maximum fun, they should try the M79 Grenade Launcher or the RPG-7. Though laughably terrible when starting, once Pack’d launchers are a mighty foe giant boss, Orda. Theirs no attachments here, just raw explosive damage. Once the player gets to later rounds, all launchers become efficient strategies to deal with hoards.
