Comic Book Villains That Could Follow The Joker Into Mortal Kombat

Thus far, The Joker is the only comic book character among Mortal Kombat‘s list of guest characters, but there are several contenders that could join those ranks. There is no shortage of comic book villains who could follow in Joker’s footsteps and fight with the MK cast. The only question is who among their ranks would be lucky enough to catch the attention of the developers.

Most superheroes shy away from brutal tactics and killing, which is why they typically do not fit in well with the Mortal Kombat universe. However, there are scores of villains who do not have those same scruples. Whether they are unrelenting in their goals or just enjoy killing in general, there are supervillains who could easily fit in alongside the lethal fighters of the Mortal Kombat games. With even Mortal Kombat‘s heroic Sub-Zero using deadly Fatalities, it would take the most vicious, dangerous supervillains to stand a chance.

While plenty of supervillains would be a good fit for the Mortal Kombat roster, the best additions would be those who can add something unique. Whether that be a strong personality or an interesting fighting style, they should be someone that leaves a strong impression. While that should be a prerequisite for supervillains, the bar is quite high when one considers that only one has graced Mortal Kombat so far.

Daredevil’s Foe Bullseye Would Be Perfect For Mortal Kombat

Bullseye is one of Daredevil’s most hated foes, and for a very good reason. While most supervillains have some sort of plan, Bullseye just likes to kill for the sake of killing. In fact, despite being a hitman who has made millions from his murders, he never spends that money because he doesn’t care about it. Bullseye is most comparable to Kano, the popular villain cut from MK2, being a gleefully sadistic villain who’s only out for himself. Bullseye would clearly have no qualms at all about entering the fray in Mortal Kombat.

Bullseye’s main shtick is his ability to throw things with perfect and lethal precision. Knowing this, Bullseye would best be a zoner, with special moves centered around keeping his enemies at bay so he can barrage them with projectiles. His sense of pragmatism could also provide him with some escape moves and dirty tactics. Notably, Bullseye never intentionally gets into a fight where he has a disadvantage, so that mindset should carry into his Mortal Kombat playstyle. Bullseye’s penchant for turning virtually anything into a deadly weapon would also provide plenty of interesting opportunities for his Fatalities and Brutalities.

Bullseye thoroughly enjoys all the death that he causes, and he would be a perfect fit for the world of Mortal Kombat. Since Joker could get his brain eaten in MK11, and Bullseye is Marvel’s closest equivalent to the Joker, it would make perfect since for him to join the roster as well. Bullseye would be a phenomenal edition to the next Mortal Kombat game, since few supervillains can match his skill and love of killing.

Gotham City Serial Killer Victor Zsasz Would Be Lethal In Mortal Kombat

Considering that The Joker was the first supervillain to join Mortal Kombat, it may seem slightly odd if the second also ended up being a Batman foe. However, Victor Zsasz has enough style to be worthy of his own spot on the roster. He may not be the most prominent member of the Caped Crusader’s rogues’ gallery, but once one sees Zsasz, they will never forget him.

Zsasz is a serial killer who carves a tally mark on his body for every person he kills, although since Mortal Kombat characters return from the dead, it’s unclear how he would approach that. He almost never wears a shirt, allowing comic readers to get a good view of the tally marks that he has built up. As a combatant, Zsasz is most famous for using a knife, although he is also known to be very unpredictable. This could make him a very strategic fighter, with a varied moveset offering options for many possible situations. Although his knife-based fighting style may seem a bit limiting, Zsasz’s unique look and wild nature could lead to an exciting spectacle regardless.

For a killer as relentless as Zsasz, Mortal Kombat would be a natural environment to him. Impossible to predict and deadly with his signature weapon, he would be a formidable opponent for any Kombatant. There are plenty of horror icons that could come to Mortal Kombat, and since Zsasz is basically Gotham City’s own slasher villain, he fits that role as well.

Punisher’s Enemy Barracuda Would Be Right At Home In Mortal Kombat

Far and away the most popular villain from the Punisher MAX comics, Barracuda has become one of the most iconic enemies that Frank Castle has faced. A giant of a man whose massive stature is almost as terrifying as his evil heart, he is one of The Punisher’s few opponents who survived to fight multiple times. Although his planned main universe debut ended up being shelved, Barracuda could make his way into Mortal Kombat instead.

Sharing Frank’s military background and mastery of weapons, Barracuda is always ready for war. However, unlike Mortal Kombat‘s military mainstay Jax, whose MK11 VA shares his veteran status, Barracuda has no conscience and no qualms about violence. His guns and blades are backed by the raw power of his seven-foot muscular frame. He’s destined to be a powerhouse, moving slowly, but dishing out heavy damage whenever an opportunity presents itself. He could even let loose his signature laugh while executing his most painful attacks, befitting his monstrously jovial personality.

Big enough to fight Goro head-to-head and mean enough to execute an opponent without blinking, Barracuda would be an idea Mortal Kombat fighter. Not only would he be right at home among the roster, but he would likely relish the opportunity to take down as many warriors as possible. Mortal Kombat 12 doesn’t need Cole Young when there are characters like Barracuda around as perfect candidates.

Comic book villains have yet to be tapped into as a source of Mortal Kombat guest characters, but there’s enough potential for the developers to give it a try. The series may be brutal, but there are more than a few characters from the pages of comics that can match the rest of the roster in their propensity for violence. The next Mortal Kombat would do well to add a few more supervillains to the cast.
