NBC’s Community has been gaining a lot of traction recently, with the show receiving widespread attention since coming to Netflix in April 2020, and especially since the cast reunited for a virtual table read for a season five episode. The table read reminded fans just how clever and funny the show was and how hilarious the characters themselves were.

Britta Perry, played by Gillian Jacobs, has been called “the worst” quite a lot of times, but she’s still one of the funniest characters in the show, with her rebellious attitude and snarky lines. Here are 10 hilarious one-liners by Britta.

10 “Knock Knock! Who’s There? Cancer. Oh, Good, Come On In, I Thought It Was Britta!”

Britta has always been called a buzzkill, especially since she managed to “kill an entire school’s buzz,” in the season one episode, “The Science of Illusion.” When everyone says Britta hates fun and is a buzzkill, she plans a prank.

However, it goes horribly wrong and ends up with a cadaver on the college grounds. Britta confesses this to everyone and hilariously says the above line.

9 “PIZZA! Pizza, Pizza, Go In Tummy, Me So Hungee, Me So Hungee!”

If there’s one thing Britta loves, it’s smoking pot, and in “Remedial Chaos Theory,” when she did so in Troy and Abed’s new apartment bathroom, Abed asks her, “What’d you do? It smells weird.” Britta, offended, tells him he can’t ask that as “it’s not dignified.”

She then proceeds to do the most undignified thing in the show, dancing and jumping around while high, then running towards a pizza, chanting the above line.

8 “If I Wanted The Government In My Uterus, I’d Fill It With Oil and Hispanic Voters.”

In “Cooperative Polygraphy,” Pierce is using the lure of his estate to tell the members of the study group about their deepest, darkest, most shameful secrets. He uses his lawyers to tell everyone how Shirley is a “platinum-level donor at a pro-life organization.”

Britta is offended, but Shirley says she can donate her money to whoever she wants, and Britta responds with the above line. Not only is it a cleverly-written social commentary, but also quite hilarious.

7 “Blaming A Bridge Collapse On A School Is Like Me Blaming Owls For How Much I Suck At Analogies.”

The season five premiere, “Repilot,” sees the study group at the darkest point in their lives. None of their lives are what they thought it would be like. Jeff gets promised a job by his former rival if he can find proof of enrolment of one of Greendale’s alumni, who built a faulty bridge that collapsed.

When the study group reunites, Jeff says he’s worried that the school might be in trouble because it gave a degree to someone who built his thesis with Legos, and Britta says the above clever and funny line.

6 “If I Had No Self-Awareness, I Think I’d Know.”

Some of Britta’s funniest quotes are ironic one-liners, this one being a perfect example. In the series finale, “Emotional Consequences of Broadcast Television,” while everyone is debating whether they’d “return for season seven” and what it would look like.

Abed remarks how it’s unlikely they’ll return for season seven since they’ve become quite formulaic without being aware of it. Britta, true to her nature, rebelliously insists that they’re not formulas, and then proceeds to say the above quote.

5 “Uh, I Lived In New York, Troy, I Know What A Baggel Is.”

Community is full of subtle running gags and jokes, some that fans may only get after a few re-watches. One of these gags including Britta constantly referencing how she lived in New York, which was first mentioned in the season one episode, “Physical Education.”

When Jeff accidentally knocks over a few bagels, Britta remarks, “So much for baggels.” When Troy tells her she’s pronouncing it wrong, she says the above line. It’s a clever joke since bagels are something of a staple diet in New York.

4 “If Loving Worms Is Stupid, I Don’t Wanna Be Smart!”

Britta is a hippie and likes to pretend that she’s “woke.” She’s a vegan, and so, when the study group argues over choosing lab partners, Britta tells everyone that she won’t dissect anything with a face, and Abed asks her if that includes worms.

She hilariously asks if worms have tiny faces, and Annie tells her “this is why you’re the stupidest!” Britta says the above hilarious quote, and even funnier is Annie yelling at her in response, “it is! And you can’t be!”

3 “I Don’t Start Watching Shows Until They’re So Popular That Watching Them Is No Longer A Statement.”

Community is well-known for parodying real life, including movies and TV shows. In “Analysis of Cork-Based Networking,” the characters are talking about Bloodlines of Conquest, a parody TV show of Game of Thrones—Abed even hilariously mentions how it’s based on the books no one seems to have read.

Britta, however, has only recently started watching it, saying the above quote to justify her beliefs. Even funnier is when Abed gives her a spoiler—and Britta spends the entire episode trying to get him back.

2 “I Know What An Analogy Is! It’s Like A Thought With Another Thought’s Hat On.”

As Jeff hilariously says, Britta is “pro-anti” when the study group finds out that Britta is against weddings since they support the idea of patriarchy. She compares weddings to tea parties in a rather silly analogy, and Jeff requests that “somebody tell Britta what an analogy is.”

Britta responds with the above quote, which besides being hilarious, is clever and true. Even better is when Jeff goes “Hmm” and agrees with her way of defining it.

1 “We Know That He Hates Money, Or Loves It, Or Doesn’t Care About Money, And Hates Butts, Or Loves Them.”

Since taking a Psychology major in their third year at Greendale, Britta likes to think of herself as a psychologist, a fact that everyone mocks her for. She even wears fake glasses to appear smarter while, in her own words, “therapizing” people.

In season five, when the Ass-Crack Bandit is at large, Britta uses her “psychology skills” to figure out his motives and hilariously says the above quote. Gillian Jacobs’s quick and deadpan delivery truly makes this scene a pleasure to watch.
