Crisis on Infinite Earths Poster Unites 18 Arrowverse Heroes & Villains

There’s a new Crisis On Infinite Earths poster out now, showing all of the major players of The CW’s multi-show crossover event so far. This comes right on the heels of the cataclysmic cliffhanger separating the first three parts, which were shown over the course of three nights last week, from the final two which are set to air on January 14 following a four-week winter break.

During the first three chapters of this event, airing as episodes of Batwoman, Supergirl, and The Flash, the Multiverse came under the threat of a deadly Anti-Matter Wave, which had been previously shown to devour worlds into oblivion, such as Earth-2 and Supergirl’s home of Earth-38. To combat this, the all-powerful Mar Novu, also known as The Monitor, had gathered the heroes of the Arrowverse alongside those from past DC adaptations in order to stop his evil half, the Anti-Monitor, from wiping out all of existence and creating his own universe. In order to do so, they needed to seek out seven chosen heroes, known as “Paragons,” who are destined to save the Multiverse.

The CW’s new poster (see below) shows off the main characters of the first half of the crossover, including Mar Novu, Oliver Queen/The Green Arrow, Barry Allen/The Flash, Sara Lance/The White Canary, Kara Danvers/Supergirl, Ruby Rose/Batwoman, J’onn J’onzz/Martian Manhunter, the newly resurrected Lex Luthor, the Clark Kents of both Earth-38 and Earth-96 (the latter of which is played by Brandon Routh in a reprisal of his role in Superman Returns), Iris West, The Flash of Earth-90 (aka the Flash from the 1990 television series, as played by John Wesley Shipp), Lois Lane, John Constantine, Jefferson Pierce/Black Lightning, the Mick Rory/Heat Wave of Earth-74 and Lyla Michaels/Harbinger. Oddly enough, it omits Osric Chau’s Ryan Choi (who, at least in the comics, takes over Ray Palmer’s mantle of The Atom), despite his focus in Part Three and supposed major role in the final two episodes as one of the Paragons.

As was shown last week, the first half of the Crisis ended with Oliver dead (having turned down a chance at revival in favor of taking on the mantle of The Spectre), all of the Multiverse erased, and all that remains to stop the Anti-Monitor being the Paragons themselves: Barry, Sara, Kara, Kate, J’onn, Ryan, and Lex – who managed to weasel his way into the group by using the reality-altering Book of Destiny to take the place of Clark-96. Now they are stuck in the void known as the Vanishing Point, where they must find a way to defeat the Anti-Monitor and restore the ruined worlds before it’s too late.

As for the poster, it’s a very striking image, depicting the heroes of the Multiverse against a white background. Having the Monitor overlooking them in the background is a neat touch, as it represents how he’s been observing all of them from a distance until the time came for the Crisis. Barry being in full run at the center is no doubt a nod to his sacrifice in the comics, although in the Arrowverse version this was taken by Flash-90, leaving Barry to join the others in the fight to restore their world – a fight that will resume when Crisis On Infinite Earths Parts Four and Five, in the form of episodes of Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow, air on January 14.
