Being a new MMO that focuses on PvP and a player-driven economy, Crowfall will have players participating in raids and vying for control of territory in order to cement their superiority and power. Set in a high fantasy world, the setting is largely dominated by factions and guilds that are continually fighting for control over the region.

Naturally, the game places a focus on combat and fighting ability. With advancement in the game being dictated by things like stat and talent points; it is unsurprising that some players want to know how to respec their characters. Be it for tweaking a character build or making a new one entirely, there are multiple reasons players may want to respec a character.

How to Respec a Character in Crowfall

When players want to respec a character they are going to have to find a respec shrine. Found within temple zones, it is not uncommon to find them beside similar shrines that have a slightly different function. The respec shrine will reset or refund several aspects of a character. This includes attribute points, training points, and training nodes. But the shrine does nothing to a character’s disciplines, level, class, aesthetic appearance, and so on. So don’t go to the shrine expecting it to reset absolutely everything about a character. It’s just a means to tweak or remodel a character build.

Note that this shrine is only free for VIP members. Everyone else will have to visit a nearby NPC and purchase a “Mystical Tome of Unlearning” for around 75,000 gold. Not cheap. Unless a person is willing to farm the gold, the average non-VIP player can only respec on a few rare occasions.

But will the respec system always remain this way? Maybe, maybe not. Crowfall is still in early access and is thus still prone to change. And with respecing characters being a coveted feature, there is always a chance that the respec system will be tweaked to allow greater access. But then again, it wouldn’t be the first time where a game hid respecing behind a paywall of some sort. Same for major cosmetic changes or XP boosts. But there’s no telling what the game developers will prefer in the future.
