The long-awaited DLC for Cuphead has a release date on Nintendo Switch, as The Delicious Last Course DLC for Cuphead will be released on June 30. This announcement was made during a trailer in the February 2022 Nintendo Direct, and it will be the same release date across all platforms.

Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course is an upcoming DLC that will add a new island to the game. The Delicious Last Course is adding a new playable character to the game, in the form of Ms. Chalice, who has her own unique abilities and weapons. This DLC will add a number of new levels and bosses, and true to Cuphead‘s reputation, they will all be brutally difficult. Developer Studio MDHR has revealed in the past that some of the attack phases of the new bosses in The Delicious Last Course have more frames of animation than entire bosses from Cuphead.

Despite all the hype, The Delicious Last Course has been delayed several times since it was revealed, but the game will soon be ready to launch. It was confirmed during the February 2022 Nintendo Direct (posted separately by IGN) that The Delicious Last Course will launch on June 30. This will also be its release date on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with the game also being available on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S through backward compatibility.

The Delicious Last Course will not only add a new island and bosses, but it will also add content for the original version of Cuphead. It will be possible to use Ms. Chalice as a playable character in the original Cuphead, allowing players to take on the familiar bosses using her new powers and weapons. There will also be new weapons and charms for Cuphead and Mugman in The Delicious Last Course that can be used in Cuphead, giving players even more ways to finish the original game. The Cuphead speedrunning scene prefers the original patched version, but the new content in The Delicious Last Course might convince the scene to move forward and use this new version of the game.

The pandemic greatly affected the development of The Delicious Last Courseespecially when it came to the soundtrack, as the team had tremendous difficulty assembling an orchestra for the soundtrack. It seems that these issues have finally been overcome and Cuphead fans will have the chance to repeatedly die again and again this summer. Once the game launches, then Cuphead 2 might enter production, considering that the game has now been adapted into an animated series and is reaching a wider audience.
