The new 1.5 update for Cyberpunk 2077 has brought multiple improvements to the title, including its romance options, with V’s potential relationship with Judy Alvarez improving as a result. Throughout the course of the story, there are various characters the player encounters that can be romanced, such as Judy and Panam Parker, all with their own preferences on V’s body and even voice type. In the base game, this would largely consist of completing their associated questline, at which point a V that fits that character’s preferences can enter into a relationship, which was made up of little more than an appearance in the game’s final mission and one of Cyberpunk 2077‘s multiple endings.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Cyberpunk 2077 enjoyed a troubled launch when it first arrived on 10 December 2020, being roundly criticized for its bugs and glitches, with the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions in particular struggling to run the game at all. Over a year (and numerous patches) later, developer and publisher CD Projekt Red released the 1.5 patch on 15 February 2022, alongside the long-awaited Next-Gen upgrades for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Among the fixes and tweaks included in this fairly large update was an expansion to the four main romances encountered in the game, as well as numerous rebalances to perks and gameplay and even restoring a previously cut mantis blade takedown to Cyberpunk 2077.

Of the four main romanceable partners in Cyberpunk 2077, Judy Alvarez is the earliest one encountered, first crossing paths with V during their brief stint working for fixer Dexter Deshawn. With the release of the 1.5 patch, players will now receive texts from their chosen partner from time to time and will also be able to enjoy expanded dialogue options with them. Players that sleep in their bed will now also wake beside their chosen partner, which helps the game to inject some more life into the romantic partners beyond their side missions, as well as making the player feel more immersed in the world, especially when receiving some NSFW texts from their partner in Cyberpunk 2077.

Romancing Judy Has Even More Depth In Cyberpunk 2077 1.5

The level of depth Cyberpunk 2077‘s relationships had prior to its most recent patch was lacking in some aspects, with very little interaction to be had beyond the pre-set side questlines that revolved around the partner in question. Although there are no new romances in the update, the fact they’re being fleshed out further helps Cyberpunk 2077‘s Night City feel more like a living, breathing world, with citizens going about their daily lives in a more believable fashion. This does have its downsides, however, as the newfound sense of realism doesn’t always work out well for the poor citizens of Night City, as Cyberpunk 2077‘s NPCs can die in car crashes since 1.5 dropped.

For V and the player though, the closer bond with Judy and co. should be a welcome change from the normally solitary playthrough (not counting the company of Keanu Reeves’ Johnny Silverhand of course). Many players may have been reluctant to return to Night City after having poor experiences early on in the lifecycle of the game, and CD Projekt Red has been doing everything in its power to improve the title since launch, with a steady supply of patches and promises of free and paid DLC on the horizon. Either way, fleshing out romances this way helps illustrate the depth of Cyberpunk 2077‘s world – one that could go even deeper with further updates.
