Cyberpunk 2077 just got what is undoubtedly its biggest patch to date and it’s borderline comical how extensive the patch notes are. One Reddit user found a creative way to try and make the new patch notes for Cyberpunk 2077 a bit more bearable, transforming a bland web page into a hilarious parody of the opening crawl from Star Wars.

Cyberpunk 2077 launched in a truly catastrophic state, with the console versions seeing some of the worst issues. The controversy caught the attention of mainstream news and even resulted in Sony removing the highly-anticipated RPG from the PlayStation store. CD Projekt Red went on to issue refunds for anyone unhappy with the game and have been trying to fix it since December. The latest Cyberpunk 2077 patch has over 500 error fixes and although it’s great that it’s finally getting notable improvements, there’s still lots of work left to be done.

Reddit user Axerol made a video that mimics the opening text crawl of Star Wars and replaced the sci-fi text with the long and often bizarre patch notes for Cyberpunk 2077. The video is well over 5 minutes long and it even feels a bit sped up, which certainly highlights the absurdity of how massive this patch actually is. Commenters on the thread noted specific fixes such as the misspelled “Leaving Night City” sign in-game which had, up until now, been spelled as “Leaving Nigth City“.

The massive patch for Cyberpunk 2077 addresses many of the game’s biggest issues from gameplay to bugs, but it’s still not in a state that many would deem as acceptable for a AAA game that launched at the end of 2020. It’s hard to applaud CD Projekt Red for simply adding things that should’ve been in the game when people paid $60+ for it back in December. If the studio would’ve simply abandoned it, any chance of redemption would’ve been squashed, so all of this was almost expected to happen.

The exact timeline for future updates is unclear and it’s tough to say if future patches will be of a similar size and scale. Cyberpunk 2077 was removed from the PlayStation Store over 100 days ago and the developer says it believes it’s closer to being re-listed on the digital marketplace, but ultimately, it’s up to Sony. Perhaps the RPG will see a return to the store this summer after one or two more patches, as it seems unlikely that CD Projekt Red will release any planned DLC without customers on a third of its available platforms having the option to buy it.
