Danny McBride reveals he wants to reunite with Channing Tatum for Magic Mike 3, even throwing out an idea for how he can appear in the film. The Tatum-led movie franchise first kicked off in 2012 with the eponymous dramedy based around his young experiences as a male stripper in Florida. Magic Mike centered on the titular character as he takes 19-year-old Adam under his wing in the world of male stripping.

Magic Mike proved to be a critical and commercial hit upon its release, scoring rave reviews for its direction, screenplay and performances from its cast and grossing over $167 million against its $7 million budget. This success would spawn a sequel in 2015, Magic Mike XXL, which received generally positive reviews from critics who found it enjoyable, albeit underwhelming when compared to its predecessor, and was similarly a box office hit grossing over $122 million against its $14.8 million budget. After laying dormant for years, Tatum would come back to the fold with director Steven Soderbergh for a third film entitled Magic Mike’s Last Dance and one actor is ready to jump on board with him.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

While speaking with Vulture for The Righteous Gemstones season 2, Danny McBride shared his thoughts on reuniting with Channing Tatum for Magic Mike 3. The writer/producer/actor confirmed his interest in partnering up again with the his former This Is the End co-star for the dramedy threequel and pitched an idea for who he could play for the film. See what McBride shared below:

“Yes, I’m definitely interested in being in Magic Mike 3. Give Channing a call, see what he’s up to. We’ve shared screen time together before, so maybe it’ll be the reunion everyone’s waiting for. I could be the DJ!”

McBride and Tatum memorably first worked together in 2013’s This Is the End in which the former was revealed to be thriving as the leader of a group of cannibals with the latter acting as his sex slave. Though drawing plenty of laughter from critics and audiences alike, it didn’t go over so well with co-star Emma Watson, who refused to be a part of the unscripted sequence. Co-writer/co-director/star Seth Rogen recently came out in defense of the former Harry Potter star and rumors of her having stormed off, instead revealing she felt uncomfortable with the scene and choosing to not take part.

While his idea for an appearance in the film may not sound like more than a cameo, Danny McBride’s desire to reunite with Channing Tatum for Magic Mike 3 might be an enticing concept for fans of both actors and their This Is the End scene. Given the second film saw the group of dancers undergo a change in MCs from Gabriel Iglesias’ Tobias to Donald Glover’s Andre, the potential is there for McBride to appear as a DJ for a cameo or supporting role. In the meantime, audiences can revisit the first two Magic Mike movies streaming on HBO Max now.
