Darcey & Stacey: Fans Want Darcey To Focus On Daughters Not Wedding

Fans of Darcey & Stacey are fed up with what they perceive as Darcey’s selfish behavior and urge her to start focusing more on her daughters and less on another lavish wedding. They are not alone in this opinion. Upon the women’s return from Miami Swim Week, where they debuted their House of 11 swim line, the sisters announced that they were hoping to fulfill their dreams of a “twin wedding” in the Sunshine State at the end of summer. Her dad Mike wasted no time telling Darcey that she was not ready to get married and that he was absolutely against the idea.

Mike essentially told his daughters that their latest plan was preposterous and selfish and that he was tired of the whole family having to participate in all of their whims. Darcey, who claimed to be “shocked” at her dad’s reaction, has been down this road before. Her last two relationships have played out on television and both ended disastrously. Her relationship with fiancé Georgi has arguably been just as bad and has been through numerous make-ups and break-ups since they moved in together to wait out the pandemic. Darcey’s attempts to convince everyone that she and Georgi are in a much better place after one counseling session have fallen on deaf ears where Mike is concerned.

Fans of the show have also started to grow weary of Darcey’s constant need to be engaged and married and have called on her to focus on her teenage daughters instead. Reddit user Unlucky-End1798  chimed in on the situation by saying, “They have the maturity of 15 yr old girls playing house and make-believe. It’s sad that her daughters seem to be more mature than their own mom and aunt.” User Pink_Freud__ said, “I feel bad for the girls … think about their big life celebrations, graduation, new career, their own weddings. I think they always have to worry that somehow their mother will overshadow them and make it about herself.“

Mike has been supportive of the women in all aspects of their lives but he’s putting his foot down when it comes to attending any twin wedding, should it happen. He’s provided his daughters and their children with a home in Connecticut and has apparently put money into their clothing business as well. At this point, he seems very unenthusiastic about continuing on this track — especially as the women are 47 years old. Reddit user mrg158 summed up what a lot of commenters were saying with, “This woman had a big fancy NYC wedding the first time. Why was that not enough?? You had your moment. Why do you need another one?? Why don’t you start saving your money for your girls education/housing/wedding…“

Darcey’s daughters Aniko and Aspen clearly love their mom. The girls appear to have a very close relationship with each other and are very supportive of the twins. They have even given Darcey and Georgi’s engagement their blessing. Hopefully, the girls will continue developing into confident and accomplished women — even if Grandpa Mike is the only one offering consistency and stability.
