Fans of Darcey & Stacey and 90 Day Fiancé often wonder why Tom Brooks was so shady to Darcey Silva. The British playboy has managed to embarrass and sadden one of TLC’s most popular reality stars. Tom briefly gave fans reason to hope that Darcey would get a happy ending following her relationship with Jesse Meester. The romance with Meester ended in turmoil. However, during his 90 Day Fiancé debut, Tom made it clear from the start that he and Darcey were on two completely different pages when it came to love.

Darcey arrived on British soil to meet Tom for the first time on 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days. During her taped confessionals, Darcey spoke quite fondly of her new man and was hopeful that the romance would result in a marriage proposal. Meanwhile, in most of Tom’s confessionals with the show’s producers, he spoke about Darcey as if she were a love-starved teenager. To some viewers, he seemed to use a mocking tone when speaking about the single mom of two. He expressed an interest in getting to know her better but made it abundantly clear that he wouldn’t be rushed into a commitment. Over time, the couple grew apart on camera. They had one of the messier breakups in the franchise’s history.

In May 2020, Soap Dirt reported that Tom was lashing out (via social media) against Darcey once again, accusing her of a number of transgressions during their relationship. One of the rumored insults was that “she lied.” He went on to say that “she had an affair” and also threw in the word “alcoholism” as a nasty parting shot. He said that he’s, “tired of people lying to cover their own arse.”

Now that 2021 is here, Tom is making it even clearer that he’s got a strange urge to hurt Darcey. Fans went into a tailspin when the self-professed 007 “clone” introduced an unnamed lady friend in a recent Instagram post. What was most noticeable about the picture is the brunette woman’s striking resemblance to…you guessed it, Darcey. He never mentioned his famous ex in the post, nor did he give any pertinent details about his possible new romance. However, the photo showed Tom and the woman in a cozy holiday embrace. Both were smiling and clearly happy to be together.

In the end, it looks like Tom got exactly what he wanted out of his relationship with Darcey: women and exposure. That’s why he was so shady to her. For him, she was never going to be the love of his life. Instead, he likely saw her as a desperate woman making the same mistakes over and over again. He listened to her complaints about Jesse Meester and probably lost sympathy for her as time went on, after absorbing her analyses of their failed union. Still, Tom might not be such a bad guy. After all, fans only got to know him on TV for a very short time, through Darcey’s lens.

Reality star Darcey, who loves dream boards and romance, may make better choices in the future than she’s made in the past. Here’s hoping that Tom can learn to win back Darcey & Stacey viewers, after making snarky comments about her weight gain and her perceived neediness.
