It took a cosplayer approximately two years to craft a full-scale outfit modeled after Dark Souls‘ imposing Elite Knight armor. The Elite Knight armor set in Dark Souls appears across all three games in the action RPG series; as many are well aware, this particular look often takes center stage in marketing materials.

In-universe, very little is known about those who previously donned the Elite Knight attire that players can find and equip. The armor’s description in the original Dark Souls notes the set once belonged to a “nameless knight,” then posits the first owner may have constituted one of Astora’s Elight Knights. Item descriptions in Dark Souls III don’t offer much in the way of concrete details, either. However, a short blurb about the equipment reiterates that such armor was once worn by the likes of Astora’s protectors. Given the ongoing mystery and sheer beauty of the look, it comes as no surprise that cosplayers have taken quite a liking to this specific Dark Souls character design.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Recently, cosplayer bakemono_br took to Instagram to share images of their awe-inspiring Elite Knight cosplay. The work is so impressive, in fact, that the armor looks as though it could be a screenshot from one of FromSoftware’s Dark Souls titles. Apparently, years were spent achieving such a feat. Responding to a curious commenter, bakemono_br divulged that they, along with a few friends, crafted the Elite Knight armor set over the course of two-plus years. The final result proves their efforts were well worth it in the end. See a screenshot of the cosplay in question featured below:

The details on the armor are nothing short of stellar, from the intricacies of the Elite Knight’s helm to the vibrant blue cloth with its fine gold stitching. And it pairs well with the other Dark Souls cosplay outfits that have made the rounds of late. For example, Reddit user KeNnY1337TV recently shared photographs of their Black Knight cosplay, which took about nine months to complete.

FromSoftware’s last Dark Souls title, Dark Souls III, hit store shelves for PC, PS4, and Xbox One in March 2016. While the series is on hold for an indefinite period of time, its spirit remains alive and well in the likes of 2019’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and the upcoming Elden Ring, the latter of which launches digitally and at retail in February 2022.
