Odenkirk, 58, is known for playing the enigmatic lawyer Saul Goodman in Breaking Bad, which he reprised in its spinoff prequel series, Better Call SaulThe AMC crime drama was filming its sixth and final season last month in New Mexico when Odenkirk collapsed on set, having suffered a heart attack. Following his hospitalization, Odenkirk received an outpouring of support and well wishes from his colleagues and friends in the industry, including writer and comedian David Cross. Cross is known for developing and starring in award-winning shows such as The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret and Arrested Development. He has also appeared in Modern Family and had a voice-over role in the Kung Fu Panda films. SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Cross recently shared a photo on Instagram of what looks like a happy reunion with his longtime friend. In the picture, Cross and Odenkirk are engaged in a conversation at a cafe. The Better Call Saul actor, who was in hospital just one month ago, looks healthy and in good spirits as he sits opposite Cross in the image. In the caption, Cross made a lighthearted jab at Odenkirk’s recent health scare, writing that he’s pitching a show about “a best friend that almost dies” but then “makes a full recovery” and “vows to pay for all of his friend’s drinks forever.” Check out Cross’ post below.

Cross has been cheering for Odenkirk since news of his health scare broke in July. The actor took to Twitter to support his friend, saying that he was “one of the strongest people” he knew. A few days later, Cross once again tweeted to give an update on Odenkirk’s improvement. His recent reunion with Odenkirk is comforting, since it confirms that the actor has indeed made a full recovery and is now out and about.

This is great news for Better Call Saul fans, who have been waiting for the series’ return since season 5 concluded more than a year ago. Odenkirk’s recovery should put the series’ production (which has already suffered many delays due to the pandemic) back on track. Odenkirk’s latest coffee date with Cross also hints at a possible exciting reunion project, which could well be his next undertaking once Better Call Saul wraps up by next year. One thing is for sure, Odenkirk’s new lease on life means the best is surely yet to come for the talented actor.
