It’s both frustrating and entertaining to watch beloved TV characters pair up. On the one hand, fans ship certain couples and think they would be perfect together… but on the other hand, sometimes these romances bring a lot of bad decisions and conflict. One TV show that has a lot of interesting relationships is Dawson’s Creek.

There are many characters who have proven that they know how to be in a happy and healthy relationship, despite the many ups and downs along the way that tend to occur on a TV drama about young adults. Here are the 10 most boyfriend-worthy characters on Dawson’s Creek

10 Doug Witter

Dylan Neal’s Dawson’s Creek character, Doug Witter, is Pacey’s older brother. For most of the series, he makes fun of his younger sibling and isn’t easy to like, but in the two-part series finale, fans learn that he and Jack McPhee (Kerr Smith) are in a serious relationship.

While Doug isn’t comfortable having a public romance with Jack at first, he’s able to tell Jack that he loves him and wants to be with him and they work things out. They’re also the guardians of Jen Lindley’s (Michelle Williams) daughter since she tragically passes away in the finale, something that fans still aren’t over.

9 Tobey Barret

Tobey Barret (David Harold Monahan) is definitely a boyfriend-worthy character on the show. He’s one of Jack’s main love interests. Before him, Jack had never had a boyfriend before.

Tobey is very formative and important for Jack. He’s much more open with his sexuality and wants to raise awareness and compassion for LGBTQ issues. It takes Jack much longer to be ready to be an activist, especially when he becomes part of a frat in season five and Tobey can’t stand that, but Tobey is a kind person who cares a ton and he’ll make an amazing partner for someone else.

8 A.J. Moller

A.J. Moller (Robin Dunne) may not be in a serious relationship with Joey Potter (Katie Holmes) but they do date for a few episodes in season three. He’s kind of conceited at first and they verbally spar, which tends to be how Joey flirts, as she does that with both Dawson Leery (James Van Der Beek) and Pacey.

A.J.’s boyfriend-worthy because he’s intelligent, studious, and can hold a good conversation. He would make a first date exciting and interesting, even if it wasn’t a love connection at the end of the day.

7 C.J.

C.J. (Jensen Ackles) is a pretty boring character because he’s not given a lot of material, and his romance with Jen never seems to really get off the ground.

That being said, C.J. is a pretty regular guy, and his kindness means that he would be the right partner for someone who doesn’t have as many issues with intimacy and relationships as Jen. She never truly gives him a chance because she self-sabotages.

6 Christopher

Christopher (Jeremy Sisto) wants to propose to Joey in the series finale of the show, but Joey realizes that’s not what she wants when she locates the ring at their place.

Since he’s a writer, he has ambition and that’s very attractive. He’s also boyfriend-worthy (or fiance-worthy, in this case) because he doesn’t appear to be afraid of commitment, and that’s a huge thing.

5 Eddie Doling

Dawson’s Creek succeeds in its fifth and sixth seasons because the characters have legitimate love interests beyond their first loves back in high school. For Joey, that’s Eddie Doling (Oliver Hudson), who is just as literary as she is and who seems like someone she could end up with.

Fate may have other plans but that doesn’t mean that Eddie won’t make an awesome boyfriend for someone else. He’s mature, intelligent, and while he smirks a lot, he’s much kinder once someone gets to know him.

4 Prof. David Wilder

Joey falls for Prof. David Wilder (Ken Marino) and while circumstances prevent their love story from panning out, he’s another boyfriend-worthy character.

First of all, he’s got a steady job that many people would be impressed by. And second of all, he’s also a writer, and his sensitive, artistic soul is definitely appealing.

3 Dawson Leery

Dawson Leery may have a lot of trouble finding the right person during the six seasons of the show, but that doesn’t mean that they’re not out there.

While Dawson can become too obsessed with a new relationship and want things to look like the movies, he’s learning, and once he gets past that desire for movie magic, he’ll make a good boyfriend. He’s incredibly caring and compassionate, which counts for a lot in a relationship, especially at the beginning.

2 Jack McPhee

Jack is another boyfriend-worthy character on this popular teen show. He’s sensitive, sweet, and while he does care what others think of him since he’s had a tough family life, he’s working on that.

Jack is a great listener and while he can sit in a quiet coffee shop and have a one-on-one chat, he’s also always up for a party. It’s sweet to see him find the right person in Doug and they work great together because they learn that they have to be open with each other.

1 Pacey Witter

Pacey Witter (Joshua Jackson) is arguably a perfect boyfriend for both Jack’s sister Andie McPhee (Meredith Monroe) and Joey, although of course, his romance with Joey is the one that endures.

Pacey is smart, knows when to crack a good joke to ease tension, and fiercely loyal to people in his life. While he’s got growing up to do and he’s not without any flaws at all, he can definitely admit when he’s wrong (sometimes to a fault since he’s not always the kindest to himself). Of all the characters on Dawson’s Creek, Pacey is the most boyfriend-worthy.
