Warning! Spoilers for Dark Nights: Death Metal #3 below!

The Dark Multiverse has taken over the DC Universe as we know it in Dark Nights: Death Metal. The world is overrun by evil Batmen from different universes that operate under the leadership of the most powerful Batman ever. In a preview for the series third issue, a new Batman was introduced who shares a striking similarity to Marvel Comics Silver Surfer.

In Scott Snyder, Greg Capullo, and Jonathan Glapion’s Dark Nights: Death Metal a multiverse of evil Batmen has been showcased. Evil Batman includes a version of Darkseid, Cthulu, Doctor Manhattan, Hush, Joker, Etrigan the Demon, and even a Dark Multiverse Batman version of Gotham City. Basically, if you can imagine a character becoming a murderous version of Batman, they exist in the current Death Metal series. In a new preview, another new Batman was showcased, and he’s a spitting image of Marvel’s Silver Surfer.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

In the preview of Dark Nights: Death Metal #3, readers are taken to New Apokolips, where prisoners (including Superman, who’s getting tortured by new kryptonite) are being held. In the panel, three versions of Batman investigated the remaining survivors of the Justice League’s broken ship, where they discover Jonah Hex. Among the new Batman is Collector, Batrocitus, and a white/silver character called Night Glider. The flying Batman rides a glider and has a similar physical appearance to his Marvel counterpart, besides spikes on his arms and legs, and the classic pointy Batman ears.

It doesn’t seem like the Night Glider will be around much longer, as Jonah Hex seemingly detonates a bomb on the three Batmen. Maybe, he glides away, but don’t be surprises if Night Glider doesn’t make it past the single issue. The character is a fun nod to the Surfer, and whether he’s actually based on the character remains to be seen. One could argue it’s DC’s take on the Green Goblin – but in this case, no pumpkins can be found. It would be cool to see some more versions of Marvel characters as evil Batmen, but that is highly unlikely. For now, enjoy nods like the Silver Surfer Batman – whether it’s intentional or not.
