2020 wasn’t the best year for movies, let alone DC projects. There was Harley Quinn: Birds Of Prey, Wonder Woman 1984, and a new series in the form of Stargirl. Each providing very different styles as well as receptions. However, DC is making a strong comeback starting in 2021 for the next few years.

Though fans, unfortunately, won’t see the biggest DC projects including Matt Reeves’ The Batman or The Flash until 2022, there are still plenty to enjoy in 2021. With so many stories interconnected via a new Multiverse, the future of DC is seemingly bright.

10 Batwoman (Earth-Prime)

It is no surprise that a Batwoman series on the CW would be divisive seeing how the comic book counterpart had backlash as well. However, in the CW’s case, it’s become even more controversial due to the departure of Ruby Rose as Kate Kane AKA Batwoman.

Rather than recasting Kate Kane, the cowl is being passed onto a new character: Ryan Wilder. Wilder will be the new Batwoman of Season Two, played by Javicia Leslie. Such a drastic move definitely has fans curious how a second season will play out.

9 DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow (Earth-Prime)

Sadly, Brandon Routh will not be returning as Ray Palmer. However, DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow is not over as the show will have its sixth season; Constantine, White Canary, Ava Sharpe, and more will be returning for more hijinks across time and space.

Despite starting with low-expectations, Legends Of Tomorrow has thrived for a long time. The crazy Silver Age-esque adventures on the Waverider have kept viewers entertained for so long. So many look forward to more from them, despite the loss of a leading member.

8 Black Lightning (Earth-Prime)

Going strong for three seasons, Black Lightning was a surprise gem in the Arrowverse. It tackled racial issues, political issues, and so much more while providing awesome superhero adventures. Many were happy when it merged into the new Earth-Prime during Crisis On Infinite Earths.

Unfortunately, the new fourth season will be the final season of Black Lightning; it pains many to know that this might be the last time they get to see the Pierce family. There is hope that Black Lightning makes his way to other shows of the Arrowverse like John Constantine did.

7 Titans (Earth-9)

Despite its flaws, Titans does have the fans that hope to see it improve. Season Two took things in a much better direction but it also created its own set of problems. With the third season introducing Barbara Gordon and bringing back Jason Todd as Red Hood, fans are intrigued.

Titans needs to stop trying so hard to be so edgy, focus on the entire team of Titans, and seriously work on having a good season finale. If Red Hood can be as awesome as Deathstroke and they improve on the flaws, Titans could potentially be the best superhero show.

6 Superman & Lois (Earth-Prime)

After guest-starring in several episodes of Supergirl and the giant crossovers, Tyler Hoechlin is getting his own show as Superman. It will be focusing on him and Lois as they raise their two sons in the newly rebirthed Earth-Prime.

Many fans were hoping that Brandon Routh would get his own series as his older Earth 96 Superman from Crisis On Infinite Earths. However, it will be interesting to see how Tyler improves on his Superman and leads a whole series alongside Bitsie Tulloch’s Lois Lane.

5 Lucifer (Earth-666)

Yes, many forget that Tom Ellis’ Lucifer Morningstar is in fact a DC character. Tom Ellis joined the DC Multiverse with his small cameo in Crisis On Infinite Earths. Fans rejoiced as he finally united with Matt Ryan’s fan-favorite John Constantine.

Well, after Lucifer was saved from cancellation; Netflix knew the fans desired more and fulfilled with a Season Four and part of Season Five. Lucifer Season 5 Part 2 is said to release in early 2021. The final season, Season Six is rumored to also premiere on Netflix in either late 2021 or early 2022.

4 DC’s Stargirl (Earth-2)

Much like Legends of Tomorrow, many have low expectations for this young adult series. However, it surprised fans by not only being a great Stargirl origin story but a love-letter to the Golden Age of comics. The show tributes and revamps the Justice Society Of America perfectly.

Fans are excited to see Stargirl continue through the CW and HBO Max; expanding more on the Justice Society with more classic characters and new ones. In a recent interview with Walter Hamada, he stated that Matt Reeves’ The Batman takes place on Earth-2 which is the same Earth as Stargirl. Perhaps there will be ties to that film in the show?

3 Zack Snyder’s Justice League (Earth-1)

After the boss office disaster of WB’s Justice League, fans worked together to give Zack Snyder his movie back. None of the forced reshoots by Joss Whedon: just Snyder’s vision. It took three years but finally, Zack Snyder was able to not only finish his version; he’s adding even more scenes to make it over four hours long.

Releasing as the first huge HBO Max premiere of 2021, Zack Snyder’s Justice League releases in March. It’s as much of a victory for Snyder as it is for the fans who made it all possible. With the inclusion of Darkseid, Joker, the Black Suit Superman, and more: it’s sure to be quite the epic.

2 Black Adam (Earth-1)

Due to the state of the world, it is subject to change but currently, Black Adam is set for December of 2021. The origin story of Shazam’s ultimate enemy will star Dwayne Johnson as the titular anti-hero. Dwayne Johnson has been trying to get this project off the ground for years.

Black Adam is not the only character getting his debut: Hawkman, Atom Smasher, Doctor Fate, and other members of the DCEU’s Justice Society will also be introduced. Add a likely cameo by Zachary Levi, many fans are looking forward to seeing DC’s greatest tyrant get his own movie.

1 The Suicide Squad (Earth-1)

Despite being in desperate need of a better name, The Suicide Squad looks to be an insane but awesome sequel. It features a huge cast filled with plenty of wacky characters including Margot Robbie’s third role as Harley Quinn. It is also directed by Guardians Of The Galaxy‘s James Gunn.

Idris Elba, Nathan Fillion, Michael Rooker, Peter Capaldi, and John Cena have all joined the DCEU with this one. With an R-rating, crazy characters, a mystery Sylvester Stallone role, and seemingly tons of action: The Suicide Squad should at least be a memorable DC adventure.
