Though the SnyderVerse will no longer be continuing, and though there are still ways it could continue through video games and comics, there’s still more than enough of it to keep fans going. It’s not as if there isn’t enough of Zack Snyder’s Justice League to keep fans returning for years, as the epic superhero movie is four hours long.

And though the release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League is still fairly recent, it has been out long enough for fans to gather their thoughts. Whether it’s calling it inferior to the theatrical cut, criticizing the new scenes, or lambasting some of the best performances in the movie, there are enough hot takes about the four hour movie to keep fans reading for days.

10 It’s A Waste Of Money

When fans were originally demanding the movie after the theatrical cut of The Justice League had been botched by Joss Whedon and the studio, fans were calling out for the “Snyder cut.” That term mostly meant that they wanted to see the movie restored, before WB removed scenes, added scenes, and even brightened scenes in post-production.

But that isn’t exactly what Zack Snyder’s Justice League ended up being. Instead, Warner Bros. gave Snyder an extra $70 million to complete his vision, and that doesn’t even include the cost for marketing. A few people think that’s a complete waste of money, and the user even goes on to drag the movie through the mud by calling it nothing more than an HBO Max promotion.

9 It’s A Step Backwards

Arguing that it was a massive step backward before it was even released, this Redditor explains that Warner Bros. shouldn’t be revisiting a movie that had a negative reception, to begin with. With the forward momentum of DC movies Wonder Woman, Shazam, and Joker, they argue that revisiting the drab cinematography and muddled plot will hinder that momentum.

But the user turned out to be wrong in almost every way, as the movie even has a huge score of 8.1 on IMDb. It massively improved over the theatrical release too, as there’s a much better team dynamic and there’s way more context that makes it easier to understand what’s going on.

8 The Hotdog Scene Was Unsettling

In the original cut of Justice League, Flash was portrayed as the prankster of the group, but his added scenes in the Snyder cut revealed him to be more than just comedic relief. However, it’s still the funny scenes where Flash really shines, and the best of all of them is the hotdog scene.

In a rant that calls the Flash completely useless in the movie and that the film messed up his origin story, a select few agree that the newly added hotdog scene is unsettling. Though it doesn’t hold a candle to the similarly sequenced Quicksilver scenes in the X-Men series, in the hilarious scene, Iris West crashes into a hotdog cart and gets flung into the air, and Flash is tasked with saving her, when he stops to snatch a hot dog.

7 It Takes Itself Way Too Seriously

In a tirade that says that the Joss Whedon cut from 2017 is better than Snyder’s version, this Redditor accuses Zack Snyder’s Justice League of taking itself too seriously.

They argue that on top of all the unnecessary slow motion, the four-hour movie is too full of fan service, such as Superman wearing the black suit even though there’s no reason as to why, and that there are too many scenes unrelated to the plot. In this user’s mind, Joss did a much better job in half the runtime.

6 The One-Liners From The Original Should Have Stayed

When Zack Snyder was removed from the project back in 2017, part of the reason why Warner Bros. hired Joss Whedon was that they wanted to lighten up the movie with a ton of jokes. And banter-filled dialogue between superheroes is Whedon’s bread and butter, but it didn’t sit well with audiences who watched the original cut and the dialogue seemed too forced.

However, one Redditor misses those jokes and argues that they’re far better than the jokes in the Snyder cut.

5 The Plot Makes Less Sense Than The Original

A select few believe that Zack Snyder’s Justice League was way too bloated and that the story made no sense, especially compared to the 2017 cut, which they say told a perfectly cohesive story.

And though the DCEU timeline doesn’t actually align if ZSJL is canon, it does also fix some plot holes from the theatrical cut, such as Aquaman’s armor and trident and the parademons. The 2021 movie might scrape four hours in length, but it at least ironed out a lot of what was left unexplained in the original.

4 Superman Was Too Edgy

In another post that cites Whedon’s version as better, one user claims that Snyder had no idea what he was doing with Superman in the newly released version. They claim that the character was too edgy, as he didn’t fight for truth and justice, which is ultimately what the character stands for.

To the user’s credit, the aforementioned black suit that he donned for no reason only gives credence to the hot take. But Superman did have some added scenes that really did portray him as the Superman everyone loves, and not the dark and brooding type figure he was in Man of Steel and Batman v Superman.

3 Ray Fisher Was Bad As Cyborg

Though this user explains that they have no problem with the character of Cyborg and that his story arc in the movie was great, they take aim at the actor who plays him, Ray Fisher. They go on to say that Cyborg was in fact the heart of the movie, but Fisher’s acting felt flat.

However, one of the biggest takeaways from the movie was just how great Fisher was in the role, and he really shines after he was basically sidelined in the theatrical cut. And he was so great that fans even want a spin-off starring the actor, showing how unpopular this opinion truly is.

2 The Slow Motion Is Overused

Zack Snyder has long been criticized for making his movies look like music videos, as an iconic track is often played over the top of slo-mo action scenes. But over time, those criticisms have become one of the main reasons people enjoy Snyder’s movies.

However, this user hates it, citing pointless minutes-long scenes that could be half the length if it was shot at normal speed. But that’s just part of the style, and as there was slow motion in both Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, both of which were directed by Snyder, fans of the DCEU should be accustomed to this style by now.

1 It Would Have Had The Same Reception As The Original If It Was Released In 2017

As the movie has received almost universal acclaim, with critics doing a complete 180 on their opinions compared to how they originally thought about the 2017 release, the film was a huge commercial and critical success.

However, not everybody agrees with the general consensus, as some think that the Snyder cut would have had the same reception as the original if it was released back in 2017 and that it would have had the same mediocre reviews as Batman v Superman and Man of Steel. But the feelings about the movie are hardly inflated, as the difference between the two is day and night.
