This coming Valentine’s Day, DC Comics will be releasing a romantic anthology titled Love is a Battlefield. It quite the fitting title, seeing as though Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy are gracing the cover art and getting choked out by a killer mutant plant. The series will also feature other notable power couples celebrating their love in the DC Universe, but seeing Harley Quinn and Ivy together in mainstream continuity is huge.

Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn have long been gal pals in Gotham City, ever since they met in Batman: The Animated Series. When Harley made the transition into the DC Comics Universe that friendship continued, and the two would often tear up the town with other rogues such as Catwoman. However, the bond between Ivy and Harley would grow and blossom, becoming something deeper. However, their relationship has always been something they’ve been pretty non-exclusive about. In spite of this, other versions of the characters such as the Harley and Ivy of the Injustice Universe have recently fallen in love and just got married in Tom Taylor’s Injustice: Zero Year #8. Not only that, but Ivy just ran away from her own wedding to Kiteman be with Harley in the second season finale of the Harley Quinn animated series on HBO Max.

Now, DC Comics February solicitations may have just provided the perfect opportunity for Ivy and Harley to become an official item in the DC Universe. Love is a Battlefield will be coming from a plethora of great writers including Cavan Scott, Andrew Wheeler, Crystal Fraser, Regine Sawyer, Jose Luis (and more). Here’s the synopsis from the solicitations as well as the cover art from artist Kaare Andrews:

  • BLAM! KRACK! POW! Look out—it’s…love?! Falling in love is rough, even for DC’s greatest. Watch as Batman and Catwoman, Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor, Mister Miracle and Big Barda, and all the rest of your OTPs fight in vain against the all-powerful forces of romance (and super-villains)! Even Amanda Waller fights the urge to bail on her mystery date. We guarantee that this Valentine’s Day, someone’s taking a shot to the heart—from Cupid’s bow!

The 80-page anthology looks as though it will include plenty of other romantic couples that DC fans know and love like Batman and Catwoman, along with more potentially intriguing stories like Amanda Waller finding love (who’d have thought?). Regardless, DC’s Love is a Battlefield could offer the big Ivy and Harley moment fans have long been waiting for. The whole issue is going to be about love and romance, so how could DC not go big with the fan-favorite duo and show them getting together as a couple? Fans of Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn will just have to wait and see when the anthology issue comes to comic book store shelves this coming Valentines’ Day from DC Comics.
