Warning! Spoilers for Wonder Woman #771 below!

While Wonder Woman is looking for answers into what’s happening to fallen warriors who are somehow staying dead, DC’s version of Thor proves he’s just a big jerk. In a brand-new preview for Wonder Woman #771, Diana Prince seeks the assistance of the God of Thunder, who is more concerned about drinking mead than offering assistance to a problem that greatly concerns them both.

Wonder Woman has awoken in Asgard after the events of Future State, Death Metal, and Infinite Frontier #0 which ended with Diana declining a position with the Quintessence in watching over the new Omniverse. Now, stuck in an endless cycle of fighting in the Norse afterlife, Wonder Woman is warned of the pending Ragnarok and the disappearance of the Valkyries – the latter which leaves soul stranded. In an effort to figure out what’s happening around her, Diana will call on the help of Thor, who made a grand entrance in the series’ last issue. But, the Norse God isn’t exactly interested in helping her.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

In a new preview for Wonder Woman #771 by Becky Cloonan, Michael Conrad, Trevor Moore, and Tamra Bonvillain, Diana can be seen confronting Thor in Valhalla, as he feasts on meat and mead. She asks him whether he’s content to drink while his fellow warriors are staying dead, to which Thor tells her that it’s all a natural cycle. When Wonder Woman tries to tell him she’s concerned, Thor essentially shushes her, while boasting how is it possible warriors are disappearing if they continue to win the endless fights?

Wonder Woman calls out Thor for his heroism, to which he responds “I am not easily hero! I am a God!” Diana tells him to act like one and Thor goes into full jerk mode. He calls her “Hon,” and says he doesn’t meddle with the affairs of the Valkyries while expressing little concern for the missing Siegfried. He turns his attention back to mead and tells Wonder Woman he has little time for her “foolishness.” Venting to Ratatosk, Diana correctly describes Thor as being “awful.”

Thor seems perfectly content which fighting endless battles, drinking mead, and filling himself up with the spoils of victory. With Valkyries disappearing and warriors being slain permanently, you’d think Thor would show some concern – but instead, he’d rather be a condescending jerk to the one person trying to help him. DC’s version of Thor could learn a lot from Marvel’s version. Even though the character is usually bashful and arrogant (he is a god after all), his treatment of Wonder Woman is abysmal. He’s a stone-cold jerk – which will make things interesting when Wonder Woman and Thor will be forced to team up in future issues. Wonder Woman #771 is in stores on Wednesday, April 14.
