With so many characters to keep track of, it would be easy to get a little confused. So, before you go see Deadpool 2, here’s all you need to know about the movie’s stars and superheroes.

The Stars of the Show

Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool – No stranger to superhero films, Ryan Reynolds’s superhuman career got off to a rocky start with Green Lantern and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Reynolds has since made Deadpool his own, though, portraying an iconic version of the Merc With A Mouth in 2016’s Deadpool. The sequel opens with Wade and his lady-love Vanessa now settled down, but life is never easy for a character like Deadpool.

Josh Brolin as Cable – In 1990, Rob Liefeld and Louise Simonson created the character of Cable, a time-traveling soldier who was attempting to rewrite history. Over the years, Cable and Deadpool have become strongly connected, even co-starring in a team-up title back in the early 2000s. Josh Brolin is expected to play the part for a four-movie arc. The actor also played Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, making this his second big-screen Marvel character this year.

Zazie Beetz as Domino – Created by Rob Liefeld in 1992, Domino is a mutant gun-for-hire whose power is to manipulate probability. However as much Deadpool may object, when Domino’s around, luck truly is a super-power – and the film will go to great lengths to show just how “cinematic” such an ability can be. Beetz is best known for her long-running role as Van in Atlanta.

The X-Men

Stefan Capicic as Colossus – Stefan Capicic is reprising the role of Colossus, the metal-skinned mutant who formed a key part of the X-Men’s “Second Genesis” team in the comics. Capicic’s Colossus was a hugely popular character in the first Deadpool film, and it was no surprise to see the actor signed up to return.

Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead – Also known for her roles in The Exorcist and Tragedy, Brianna Hildebrand signed up to the first Deadpool as Negasonic Teenage Warhead. The character was heavily-redesigned from the comics, where she’s traditionally been portrayed as a Goth precog. In the time between the films, Negasonic has graduated, and she’s now a fully-fledged X-Man.

Shioli Kutsuna as Yukio – Australian-born Japanese actress Shioli Kutsuna has joined playing another junior X-Man, Yukio. In the comics, Yukio is an agile street thief; another version of the character appeared in 2013’s The Wolverine. The Deadpool 2 version is a pink-haired mutant who generates powerful energy chains and whips.

Russell

Julian Dennison as Russell – Best known for his performance in Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Julian Dennison is playing Russell, a pyrokinetic who calls himself Firefist. In the comics, Firefist was a background character in Chris Claremont’s X-Factor run, but ultimately became one of Magneto’s Acolytes. Deadpool 2 has significantly upped the character’s power levels.
