With a Crunchyroll trailer confirming Demon Slayer’s third season, the Swordsmith Villiage arc, two new Hashira will be getting the spotlight: Mitsuri and Muichiro.

At this point, the anime has shown fans every single Hashira, the pillars of the Demon Slayer Corps, and some have been more likable than others. To measure the Hashira’s likability thus far, fans can look both at the Hashira’s actions and if their general personality would make them enjoyable to be around.

9 Sanemi

The wind Hashira, Sanemi, was heavily featured in the Hashira meeting, the first moment that most of the Hashira were introduced in the anime. During the Hashira meeting, Sanemi committed an act more unforgivable than what most demons have done throughout the series: stabbing Nezuko when completely unprovoked.

While almost all Hashira agreed that Nezuko had to be dealt with as a demon, Sanemi’s cruel and unusual treatment of the Kamado sibling made fans quick to dislike him. His actions aside, Sanemi’s angry and abrasive personality make him difficult to resonate with. In fact, Sanemi is more brutal than many villains in the series.

8 Obanai

Anime fans have seen little of the serpent Hashira Obanai. His only two memorable appearances have been at the Hashira meeting and after the battle with Daki and Gyutaro had come to a close.

Obanai’s actions so far have been made up of three actions: trying to kill Nezuko, knocking Tanjiro down and holding him to the floor, and insulting Tengen despite his own tardiness to the battle. As far as his personality is concerned, Obanai has only been insulting and condescending to everyone except for the Demon Slayer master Kagaya.

7 Gyomei

The blind stone Hashira didn’t make a huge impression during his initial appearance, but anime fans may be surprised to learn that Gyomei has one of the strongest breathing forms and is one of the most powerful Hashira.

Gyomei’s state of crying and mourning has a way of wearing on the watcher. Without more context on his character, all the watcher knows is that Gyomei was incredibly sad about Nezuko’s fate but still willing to execute her. That attitude makes him slightly more commendable than characters like Sanemi, but there’s still not enough good from Gyomei yet to make him genuinely likable.

6 Muichiro

Muichiro Tokito is the youngest member of the Hashira and a child prodigy that achieved his status in less than two months of training. The mist Hashira is one of the most impressive members of the group as a fighter, even when not accounting for his age.

During the Hashira meeting, Muichiro spent most of his time ignoring the conflict and staring at clouds and birds. While he wasn’t an instigator like Sanemi or Obanai, he also didn’t do anything to help. Not doing anything has been the key trait for Muichiro all series, who before the Swordsmith village arc has essentially just been a funny kid that people have praised for being talented.

5 Mitsuri

The love Hashira and upcoming featured character of season 3, Mitsuri is best known for her extreme affection for everyone in the Demon Slayer Corps.

While Mitsuri wasn’t quite as belligerent as other Hashira in their treatment of Nezuko, she didn’t do much to actually help Tanjiro’s sister either. She also hasn’t accomplished as much as other Hashira who have actively helped the main trio so far in the story. At the very least, Mitsuri is a kind person who thinks fondly of her friends.

4 Tengen

After Rengoku, Tengen Uzui was the second Hashira to get a star role in Tanjiro’s gang. The sound Hashira brought the main trio in to help save his wives and investigate an Upper Moon, who turned out to be Daki and Gyutaro.

Despite being maimed early in the fight against Gyutaro, Tengen fought one-handed to help keep the Upper Moon at bay while Tanjiro decapitated him. Despite his oddly “flashy” showing in the Hashira meeting, Tengen perhaps had the top character arc in season 2.

3 Shinobu

Shinobu has the strange honor of being the only Hashira who lacked the strength to behead a demon. Instead, the insect Hashira mastered the use of poison to take out her foes.

Shinbou was the initial Hashira to go after Nezuko and Tanjiro, but quickly accepted them after Kagaya supported the siblings. Shinobu’s saving of Zenitsu and her hospitality towards the main trio when she let them stay at her butterfly mansion. As far as her personality, Shinobu’s backstory with Kanao and her desire to keep her sister’s dream alive were part of what made her win fans over.

2 Rengoku

Rengoku was the star of one of the best anime movies of 2020, Mugen Train. The energetic flame Hashira was best known for his love of good food and his burning desire to save everyone around him, even at the cost of his own life.

The only thing detracting from Kyojuro’s heroics was his initial decision to kill Nezuko at the Hashira meeting. However, he was the first Hashira to sincerely apologize to Tanjiro and his actions on the Mugen Train more than made up for his actions in season 1. Rengoku’s lovable and energetic personality mixed with his protective nature make it hard not to love the flame Hashira.

1 Giyu

The water Hashira was the very first demon slayer that Tanjiro met. After initially being aggressive toward Nezuko, Giyu realized almost immediately that there was something different about the Kamado siblings, and he sent them to be trained by his master Urokodaki.

Giyu wasn’t only the catalyst for Tanjiro becoming a demon slayer, he was also the only Hashira that accepted Nezuko without Kagaya’s influence. His personality, while characteristically solemn, also is protective and passionate. So despite Shinobu’s claim that Giyu isn’t well-liked by the Hashira, he may be the most liked Hashira by the fans.
