Bluepoint Games’ Demon’s Souls remake launched with a revamped character creation system that one player has used to transform their character into famous rapper Kanye West. The Demon’s Souls player base has done some creative things in the past, like using mods to defeat bosses using Donkey Kong bongos, among other things.

The in-game character creator, meanwhile, can be used by creative players in a very different way. Demon’s Souls has been relatively player friendly as far as character appearance goes compared to the original. while there are certain sets of gender-locked armor, players can alter their character’s gender and appearance at any time.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Rehv’s Basement has taken the game’s surprisingly robust character creator to transform their character into an incredibly accurate and detailed recreation of Kanye West. While the video does not show the rapper-turned-Slayer of Demons in combat, it does offer a detailed, step-by-step walkthrough of how to achieve the same visual results, in case any other players watching wanted to try it for themselves. Or if they just want to recreate the “Power” music video in game, whatever floats their boat.

While 2009 was decidedly not a great year for Kanye West or his many of his fans, the original Demon’s Souls from the same year had an in-depth character creation system, and the remake has taken the system to entirely new heights with more versatile options and greater visual fidelity. Of course, character creation is the focus of neither game, and the original developed a lasting following for its ridiculous difficulty and the new Demon’s Souls has stayed true to the original in that regard, and others.

For years, dedicated players of various games have found different ways to use game mechanics to make some pretty amazing things, and this creativity even extends to polarizing rappers/far fetched presidential hopefuls. As for Demon’s Souls, the game has found a way to provide fun to players, outside of the main draw of challenging boss fights (although, those can still be fun to watch too). It is probably only a matter of time before other recreations begin popping up online, so anyone wanting to get in on the character creation comradery or to get repeatedly stomped by gargoyles can jump into Demon’s Souls and create their own unique or inspired character.

Demon’s Souls is available on PS5.
