After six months, Season of the Risen is finally live in Destiny 2, along with a whole new set of weekly challenges for players to complete. The new season is directly tied into the latest expansion in Destiny 2, namely The Witch Queen. While the two stories coincide with one another, Season of the Risen activities continue the story with Zavala’s efforts alongside the Cabal. As soon as players complete the first chapter of the new expansion, they’ll be able to start completing the first week of challenges in Season of the Risen.

While Destiny 2 does have a plethora of free-to-play content, players will ultimately need to buy The Witch Queen expansion and the season 16 pass in order to complete all of the challenges and earn the rewards. The first week of Season of the Risen challenges requires players to complete objectives in both familiar activities and new locations. Including the expected Bright Dust and XP that players can earn from completing these challenges, a new reward called Insight can also be earned through the Season of the Risen story.

Insight is the new seasonal-related reward that is used to unlock new features at the War Table in the HELM, including bonus gear, easier ways to earn Psychogenic Intel, and more. Now that The Witch Queen expansion is live, players can find all of the Season 16 related engrams and rewards at the HELM’s War Table in Destiny 2. In the first week of challenges, players will need to complete activities in Gambit, Vanguard Strikes, and the Crucible, as well as objectives in Savathûn’s Throne World and the new PsiOps Battlegrounds activity.

Players can expect to earn a specific amount of Bright Dust that correlates with the type of XP earned, such as Challenger XP+, Challenger XP++, and Challenger XP+++. Additionally, these rewards give a large sum of XP that is increased by other factors such as Ghost mods or season pass XP multipliers that are automatically applied once players reach that season pass level. These are the week one challenges in Destiny 2 Season of the Risen:

  • Psychogenic Decoder (Rewards Challenger XP and Insight): Collect Psychogenic Intel from Vanguard Strikes, Gambit, Crucible, public events, and more, and collect Risen Umbral Energy by decoding Runic Chests in PsiOps Battlegrounds.
