It’s official this year’s Destiny 2 Guardian Games have crowned a winner. The event to determine the best class among the Guardians is now set to close after weeks of stiff competition.

The Guardian Games is a yearly event in Bungie’s popular online loot-based FPS Destiny 2 where the Hunter, Warlock, and Titan classes compete to determine who is truly the superior class. In order to increase a class’ score, players of each class must turn in medals attained from Triumphs, Contender Cards (purchased with Laurels), and activities such as Gambit and Crucible. Each medal counts for a different number of points depending on its tier, with platinum providing the most points. Though classes can claim victories in the Guardian Games every day and every week, the class with the most days won is crowned the overall victor at the end of the event.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

This year, the Hunter class emerged victorious in the Destiny 2 2021 Guardian Games. Bungie took to Twitter on Friday to announce the news on the game’s official page. In the post, Bungie includes a four-second clip of three Hunters dancing, posing, and celebrating as colorful fireworks explode around them. Although the event began on April 20 and was set to last until the weekly reset on May 11, the Hunters accumulated enough wins on enough days to secure their victory early.

Players rolling the Hunter class will have both bragging rights and a golden statue next to Commander Zavala to commemorate their victory for the rest of the year. Last year it was the Titans who dominated the event, despite the Hunters being the most popular class in the game. The Hunters made a dominant return this year, however, and the Titans often ended up third on the day’s leaderboards. Even with the new point bonus to the class that ends the day in third place, neither the Warlocks nor the Titans were able to take the Hunters down.

The Hunters now have the remainder of the year to relish in their victory. Titans and Warlocks need not worry, though, as there will certainly be another Guardian Games in 2022. Bungie will likely incorporate feedback from this year’s Guardian Games to improve the overall experience and make the event more balanced next year. In the meantime, Destiny 2 players can soon take on Season 14’s Season of the Splicer content set to release on May 11. The popular Vault of Glass raid from the first Destiny game will also release on Destiny 2 as part of Season 14 on May 22. Win or lose the Guardian Games, Destiny players have a lot to look forward to.

Destiny 2 is available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia.
