Bungie has knuckled down and finally fixed the fan-favorite 12-person raid glitch. This beloved glitch allowed up to 12 Guardians in Destiny 2: Beyond Light to enter into a raid event together, instead of just 6 players, lowering the difficulty and doubling the level of fun.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light‘s raid mode places 6 players in a fire team and tasks them with working together to complete a Destiny style dungeon. This mode is considerably more difficult than regular missions, requiring players to solve puzzle mechanics and memorize most of the dungeon before embarking on the raid. Teams of players who complete raids on release often spend hours on end trying to crack the mechanics of the intense battles and bosses, with their efforts allowing other players to eventually beat the raid as well.

In the latest patch for Destiny 2: Beyond Light, shared by Bungie, the glitch is addressed quite humorously; “Fixed an issue where players were able to cram 12 people into an activity that clearly couldn’t handle the might of that many Guardians.” Recent issues with Strikes and the Forfeit Shrine Ascendant Challenge were also tackled in this patch. According to the patch notes, this recent update was mainly released to address a number of issues that had been plaguing Guardians recently.

While Bungie was always going to get around to fixing this particular bug, fans were secretly hoping that it wouldn’t be so soon. Players were enjoying being able to have so many Guardians involved in raid activities, allowing players who had never been able to complete the raids the chance to finally tick these daunting challenges off their to-do list. Due to having double the amount of required players needed to beat the raid, players were able to tackle the event how they wanted to, instead of having to min-max their stats and equipment like usual, which in turn made raids a lot more fun for casual fans.

The currently disabled Trials of Osiris mode also received a patch fix, solving the issue where the ‘I am Invincible’ medal was appearing for all players when one player earned it in the mode. This bug was not the issue that caused Bungie to disable the mode last weekend; it seems that the mode may not be fixed before this weekend either. At least the removal of the 12-person raid bug shows that Bungie is actively committed to improving the game, even if they’re doing it in ways that Destiny 2 fans may not actually approve of.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light is currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
