Destiny 2: Season of the Splicer has introduced a few new ways for players to grab high stat armor. Between Vault of Glass, Override Powerful and Pinnacle Gear, and Expunge missions, players have a few additional ways to earn this gear weekly. The Corrupted Expunge missions in particular are an excellent way for players to earn high stat season of the splicer armor, and even Override weapons that drop with more than one Legendary Perk option in a slot.

Corrupted Expunge missions weren’t released until week six, introduced in the Path of the Splicer VI questline. It was here that players were exposed to Taken enemies inside the Vex network, and after defeating the boss in the Corrupted Labyrinth they could unlock a Corrupted Conflux Chest using Corrupted Key Codes. Opening three Corrupted Conflux Chests will reward players with Pinnacle Gear, per character, so it’s important to stock up on Corrupted Key Codes since the item is shared across all characters as well.

Destiny 2: How to Farm Corrupted Key Codes

Corrupted Key Codes are a rare item in Destiny 2, introduced in Season of the Splicer. They are used to open Corrupted Conflux Chests in Expunge missions, and players are only able to hold five at a time. They are Vex Key Codes corrupted by Taken influence and are the only item that allows players are unable to retrieve items at the end of Corrupted Expunge missions. Farming them can be a challenge, but luckily the community has derived a few ways to earn them.

Simply put, every enemy regardless of PvP or PvE has a small chance of dropping a Corrupted Key Code. When an enemy drops them, Corrupted Key Codes appear as small blue Motes and can be picked up by the Post Master if not acquired. Because the items are so rare it makes farming them from the first to the fifth time-consuming. Activities with large groups of enemies like the Moon’s Altars of Sorrow or the Thrall Room of the Shattered Throne Dungeon in the Dreaming City give players some of the best chances of finding Corrupted Key Codes. They’re filled with easy-to-kill enemies, and with enough luck, they’ll earn all five as quickly as possible.

Corrupted Expunge missions do have a chance to drop Corrupted Key Codes, but it’s risky to enter a mission without one only to find out that the Guardian cannot open the chest at the end. Try farming for all five Corrupted Key Codes first, then enter the Corrupted Expunge missions. Unlocking 20 Corrupted Chests is part of the Week 8 “Before the Dawn” Challenge as well, rewarding players with x2 Extra Large XP tokens and Decrypted Data +250 – the item used to increase rank with the Splicer Servitor in the H.E.L.M.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, and Google Stadia platforms.
