The Vex Mythoclast Exotic Fusion Rifle has become one of the most powerful weapons in Destiny 2, and knowing how to get ahold of Vex Mythoclast should be the priority for anyone who is a fan of both Auto Rifles and Fusion Rifles. Unlike all other Fusion Rifles in Destiny 2, Vex Mythoclast is an automatic weapon that uses Primary ammo. Thanks to the reworking of all Primary weapons in Season of the Lost, this means that Vex Mythoclast will never run out of ammunition.

Additionally, Vex Mythoclast is one of the Exotics that are able to have a catalyst slotted into the weapon. Having a Catalyst is not an uncommon feature for Exotic weapons, but there are many that lack them. The Vex Mythoclast is already the best Fusion Rifle in Destiny 2, and arguably one of the best weapons. Equipping its Catalyst just makes Vex Mythoclast that much more powerful.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Before Season of the Lost, the Vex Mythoclast was underwhelming and a mediocre reward for what it took to grab one. Each week, players have a chance to grab Vex Mythoclast as a reward for completing the Vault of Glass, but only once per character. This task is well worth the reward now, as Vex Mythoclast received a number of huge changes like increased damage in PvE by 40 percent, a rate of fire increase to 390 RPM, and its Linear Fusion Charge time down to 533ms in Season of the Lost.

Destiny 2: Vex Mythoclast, and its Catalyst

Unlocking Vex Mythoclast isn’t as easy as completing the Vault of Glass in Destiny 2. There is a lot of RNG that goes into grabbing one. According to Charlemagne, a Destiny Global Analytic resource that collects and shares data on a multitude of in-game aspects, about one-third of accounts that have completed Destiny 2‘s Vault of Glass raid have earned Vex Mythoclast. Additionally, while some players have unlocked Vex Mythoclat after their first completion, there are still Guardians who have 40+ completions with no Vex Mythoclast reward, meaning the actual drop rate is well below one-third.

The Vex Mythoclast’s Exotic perk is called Temporal Unlimiter, where defeating enemies builds stacks of Overcharge. Swapping firing mode when Overcharge is full allows Vex Mythoclast to fire as a Linear Fusion Rifle. The Catalyst will increase the damage, accuracy, and stability for a short duration after final blows in full auto mode. Like other Destiny 2 Exotic Catalysts, a certain number of enemies (percentage-based) will have to be defeated to activate the Catalyst. To unlock the Catalyst, different plates in the Vault of Glass will have to be accessed that trigger Oracles to spawn. These Oracles will have to be defeated in order, and there are multiple plates throughout the Vault of Glass. Destiny 2 YouTuber Luckyy 10P found every location for the plates and oracles and has a complete video walkthrough.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, and Google Stadia platforms.
