The Tincture of Queensfoil is a consumable item in Destiny 2 that can be earned from many activities in the Dreaming City. The Dreaming City is under a six-week cycling curse that changes the location of an Ascendant Portal every week. The Tincture of Queensfoil is the only way to reveal these Ascendant pocket dimensions, and the effect only lasts for 30 minutes. Players can hold a maximum of five Tincture of Queensfoil in their inventory at a time.

The Ascendant Realm challenges are short, but they’re filled with Hive and Taken enemies. Additionally, there is no respawning in the Ascendant Realm. Completing the challenge rewards Guardians with Reverie Dawn Armor and Dark Fragments, and a possible chance at a Ghost Shell or Transcendent Blessing bounties. Luckily, the six possible locations for the Ascendant challenges rotate in order. These are the locations for each of the six Ascendant Portals, and an example of the six-week cycle when each is active:

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY
  • Agonarch Abyss (Aug. 17)
  • Cimmerian Garrison (Aug. 24)
  • Ouroborea (Aug. 31)
  • Forfeitshrine (Sept. 7)
  • Shattered Ruins (Sept. 14)
  • Keep of Honed Edges (Sept. 21)

The cycle starts over from the beginning every seventh week.

Even if someone knows where all the Ascendant portals are located, they’ll still need the Tincture of Queensfoil to enter them. Tincture of Queensfoil can be found inside hidden chests, as rewards for completing bounties, during public activities, and in Lost Sectors, or purchased from Petra Venj for 50 Baryon Boughs. For those who want to make the journey down to the depths of Harbinger’s Seclude, the skull of Muninn will trade a Tincture of Queensfoil for 25 Baryon Boughs.

How to Use Tincture of Queensfoil in Destiny 2

Transcendent Blessing bounties require Tincture of Queensfoil to complete. They reward an additional 5% damage buff against enemies in the Dreaming City, for any activity, and the effect can stack up to five times. The damage buff also stacks with Destiny 2 Supers like a Well of Radiance. It’s a great idea to activate the buff before attempting the Last Wish raid, Shattered Throne dungeon, and Solo Legend or Master Lost Sectors. The damage buff is also a good idea to grab if someone is attempting a Tier III Blind Well by themselves.

Additionally, the Tincture of Queensfoil can be used to explore certain areas of the Shattered Throne dungeon. These areas will either lead to more chests with rewards or additional pieces of Destiny lore. Finding all of the chests hidden in the Shattered Throne dungeon is required for the Cursebreaker title. The Tincture of Queensfoil also adds a temporary Taken look to the user’s Reverie Dawn armor, though it will fade once the effects wear off.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, and Google Stadia.
