Destiny 2: How to Trigger Heroic Public Events

Destiny 2 offers a lot for players to do in its epic sci-fi, Halo-inspired world. Players can explore the vast open-world, take on epic missions alone or with friends and battle a variety of enemies. One thing the game offers is Heroic Public Events.

These events are a chance for players to level up and earn rewards by taking harder enemies and challenges. The different events vary but they all promise a huge payoff if players complete them. But how do players activate these special public events? Here is a guide on how to trigger Heroic Public Events in Destiny 2.

What Are Heroic Public Events?

As stated above, Heroic Public Events are missions that are harder than the regular events in Destiny 2. Heroic Public Events are the next tier after the regular Public Events.

They are harder to take on but worth it in the end for XP and loot rewards. Every public event has a normal and heroic version.

These particular missions can only be activated upon meeting particular requirements during the normal even. Each public event’s trigger prerequisites are different and it’s a good idea for players to know what the events are and what activates them.

Vex Crossroads

Activating the Heroic Public version of this event is relatively simplistic. Players just need to play through the standard version of the event and perform certain tasks along the way.

The first thing is to kill all the Vex until the percentage is 100 and then the Gatekeepers will come out and players will battle them and take their charges to either side of the gate. This will, in turn, trigger the man-cannon to turn around and launch players to an island where they will have to do battle with the Keeper of Ages. Players will then be required to slam their charges into the middle of the island.

Following this, players must journey to the back of the island to find an airborne floating crystal that needs to be destroyed. Destroying the crystal will create a platform that players need to jump on to find and destroy more crystals. Players need to keep repeating this process until they get to the top of the island.

There will then be a middle plate that players need to stand on to turn on the Heroic difficulty for Vex Crossroads. Players now just have to finish the event to get two chests and an enormous amount of XP.

Cabal Excavation

Cabal Excavation is another event whose Heroic difficulty is pretty straightforward to activate. During the normal event, players need to capture a drill from the Cabal.

Doing this will trigger a timer that counts to 100. When the drill is 30 percent captured, a flying Thresher will emerge that players need to destroy. Destroying the Thresher will make this event Heroic and players will then need to defeat a Cabal Centurion while all the mortars are firing at them to complete the event.

Glimmer Extraction

During the Glitter Extraction event, there will be drills guarded by Fallen. Players will have to ignore the enemies to help turn this event Heroic and first turn their attention to destroying a small machine near the drill before taking on enemies.

Each drill will have one of these small machines players must destroy. Players will then have to protect the unmined glimmer from incoming waves of enemies for the duration of this event.

Injection Rig

During the event, the Cabal will be utilizing a rig. This rig will have open vents that players need to shoot in order to destroy it. These vents open in the following phases: three at the top level, another three in the middle section and one at the very bottom.

Players will need to destroy the rig before engaging the Infiltrator Valus. After the rig is destroyed, a Cabal Centurion will appear and players will need to kill it to finish the Heroic event and obtain their reward.

Ether Resupply

The main objective of this mission is to destroy the Servitor. For this event to go Heroic, players will need to quickly take out the smaller Servitors that spawn before taking on the mother.

After players finish off the small Servitors, the big one will become tougher. Players will then just have to defeat the big Servitor in order to finish the Heroic event.

Spire Integration

For this mission, the Vex are sacrificing themselves to this altar to power it. For the normal version of the event, players must prevent the Vex from succeeding by shooting them down. To activate the Heroic version of Spire Integration, players will need to look around the area for some plates to capture.

Capturing the right amount will activate the beacon to start the Heroic event. For this event, during the “Disrupt Vex Construction” portion, players must stand within the circular plates’ borders and look for pillars with spinning tops to stand near them.

This will activate a timer that goes up to 100 to inform players they are capturing the pillars. Once the pillars are captured, the Heroic event can begin and players will have to fend off difficult waves of enemy Vex to prevent them from reaching their altar.

Taken Blight

There will be three waves where force field-engulfed pillars will emerge and players can walk through them. Doing so will impart onto them a buff  “Blight Receding” and players then have to shoot a large Blight while they have the buff in order to damage it.

Players then have to repeat the process of getting the buff and then shooting the Blight repeatedly. Defeating the Blight will trigger the Heroic Public version of the event and players will have to take down a powerful Taken to complete the mission.

Weapons Exchange

For this event, players will be facing a giant Walker. Around the robot will be shielded weapons that players can grab. To do this, players need to first cause the Walker to fall and grab the arc charges it spews out.

Players then need to use these charges to unlock the shielded weapons before defeating the Walker to make this event go Heroic Public. Another Walker will deploy and players need to defeat it to complete the Heroic Public Event.

Witches’ Ritual

This event has players work to stop Hive Wizards from opening a portal. There will be crystals that need to be destroyed but only if players are in specific points.

These areas are circular green areas and from there, players need to shoot the floating crystals. If they shoot the crystals from outside the circles, the crystals will remain unscathed.

After the crystals are destroyed, a new formidable adversary will arrive and players will have to defeat it to complete the Heroic Public Event. The enemy will be an Abyssal Champion and players will have to work together to take it down along with the various Hive enemies running about.
