On Tuesday, July 6, Bungie updated Destiny 2: Season of the Splicer that reissued the remaining Moon weapons that had been previously sunset. These weapons are tied to the Shadowkeep DLC that was released Oct. 19, 2019 but had their light level capped in order to encourage players to use newer weapons released in seasons after the expansions. Their newer re-released versions all come with an updated perk pool.

Bungie had already brought back the weapons tied to the Altars of Sorrow, a public event on the Moon in Destiny 2 that can be repeated by players as many times as desired. The recently reissued Moon weapons are tied to Essences, in-game materials that send players off on objectives in order to earn specific gear. One of the reissued Moon weapons is the Night Terror Sword, found by completing the Essence of Jealousy.

Destiny 2: How to Unlock The Night Terror Sword

The Night Terror Sword is an Arc-type Adaptive Frame sword, meaning its charged attack is a forward lunging uppercut dealing massive damage when the attack is fully charged. To unlock Night Terror, players will first need to beat the Shadowkeep DLC. After completing Shadowkeep, return to Eris Morn and purchase the Lunar Spelunker Weekly Bounty. This bounty will take as players to loot the:

  • K1 Communion Lost Sector
  • K1 Logistics Lost Sector
  • K1 Crew Quarters Lost Sector

Once these three bounties are completed the Firewall Data Fragment will be awarded. Take the Firewall Data Fragment to the final Lost Sector, K1 Revelation. K1 Revelation can be accessed by fast traveling to Sorrow’s Harbor and heading east. Once inside, continue the Lost Sector until the point where all the crystals have to be destroyed in order to summon Nightmare of Arguth, The Tormented. Defeat all the enemies, but do not break the crystals that summon Arguth.

Head to the back of the Lost Sector behind Arguth and proceed down the hallway to the right. Follow the pathway until the door on the right is reached, prompting players to use the Firewall Data Fragment. Inside the door is a chest containing the Essence of Jealousy. Return to the Lectern of Enchantment and claim the Night Terror Sword. The Essence of Jealousy will now be available at the Lectern of Enchantment whenever a player wants to earn a new roll for Night Terror.

The Essence of Jealousy can be purchased for one Phantasmal Core, also available at the Lectern of Enchantment, and has three objectives for players to complete. These activities are:

  • Activities on the Moon (Including Lost Sectors)
  • 25 Sword kills (Any enemy)
  • Claim Ralniks’s Hatchet (Traitor’s Ketch)

Claiming Ralnik’s Hatchet only needs to be done once. Future purchases of the Essence of Jealousy will already have the objective completed. To find Ralnik’s Hatchet, head to the crashed ship in the Anchor of Light beyond where the Public Event takes place. Follow the path of the ship until a large group of enemies is found, and defeat the boss. He will drop Ralnik’s Hatchet. Return to the Lectern of Enchantment and redeem the Essence of Jealous for Night Terror once this and the other objectives are completed.

Night Terror’s perk pool isn’t too large, so it shouldn’t take players long to earn a great roll. For the best rolls, aim for Night Terrors with these perks:

Legendary Blade

  • Honed Edge (PvP, PvE)
  • Jagged Edge (PvE)
  • Tempered Edge (PvE)
  • Hungry Edge (PvP)
  • Enduring Blade (PvP)

Legendary Guard (PvP & PvE)

  • Heavy Guard

Legendary Trait 1

  • Tireless Blade (PvP, PvE)
  • Relentless Strikes (PvE)

Legendary Trait 2 (PvP & PvE)

  • One For All
  • Vorpal Weapon Thresh
  • Thresh
  • Surrounded
  • Unrelenting

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, and Google Stadia platforms.
