The Wellspring is a new 6-player activity in Destiny 2 introduced with the newest expansion, The Witch Queen. Unlike other 6-player activities in the game, The Wellspring rotates between an Attack and Defend variation every day at reset. In order to unlock The Wellspring, players will have to complete The Witch Queen’s entire campaign on classic or legendary mode. Once players have completed the campaign, they’ll be able to launch the activity from the Throne World destination on their maps. From there, players can see what rewards are available from The Wellspring that day and will want to check back every day to see what new rewards are available next.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

The Wellspring: Attack” plays out exactly as it sounds. Players will push through the Wellspring while escorting a ‘Resonant Splinter,’ which is similar to the payloads guardians defend during public events in the Throne World or at the beginning of The Vow of  The Disciple raid. While escorting the payload, players will be continually attacked by Lucent Hive and stopped by crystals that spawn in front of the payload that needs to be destroyed to progress. Once the payload is delivered, players will move onto the next room, where they’ll have to charge up to three separate plates to destroy the final bosses’ shields. Once the bosses’ shields are done, players will be able to damage the boss. The boss will regenerate its shield three times, but unlike the previous encounter, players will have to kill named Witches that spawn in the boss arena to break its shield again.

“The Wellspring: Defend” plays out the exact opposite way of the activities Attack variation, but with even more enemies. Add clearing weapons, like the new Forbearance grenade launcher in Destiny 2 from the raid, are very useful here. Defend starts out in the final boss room of the Attack variation, but this time, players will be defending the middle area from waves of incoming Scorn until the platform charges to 100%. From there, players will move into the next room, where they previously escorted the payload in the Attack variation of Wellspring. Here, players will defend the area by destroying darkness crystals and Scorn enemies, including a Scorn tank, as they move to the front of the room. Once the encounter is complete, and players have reached the front of the room, the final boss will spawn. In order to break its shield, players will have to destroy the dark crystals that spawn near the boss, like in the previous encounter.

The Wellsprings’ Rewards in Destiny 2

The Wellspring rewards players with Throne World weapons that are not available through Deepsight Chests and ranking up Fynch in the Throne World. The ‘Come to Pass’ Auto Rifle and ‘Fel Taradiddle’ Bow are available during The Wellspring: Attack. The ‘Tarnation’ Grenade Launcher and ‘Fathers Sins’ Sniper Rifle are available during The Wellspring: Defend. Only one weapon is available during each rotation of the Wellspring, which means players may have to wait three days if they miss out on a guns rotation.

In addition to weapons, players can also earn high-stat ‘Veritas’ Armor and Ascendant Alloy for crafting by running The Wellspring on Master difficulty. This difficulty starts at 1580 power, so players will have to grind to at least 1560 power level to have a chance at completing the activity. This difficulty also provides a higher chance of earning Wellspring weapons with Deepsight Reconnaissance, which can be extracted to craft weapons using Destiny 2’s new crafting system.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Google Stadia.
