Director Armando Iannucci uses colorblind casting throughout the film, adding some much-needed diversity to the period piece genre. With actors like Tilda Swinton, Hugh Laurie, Benedict Wong, and Gwendoline Christie in supporting roles, the film bursts at the seams with its cast’s talent. And while Gawain isn’t the most likable character, he’s the compelling lead of The Green Knight and one of Patel’s most complex characters.
