A new behind-the-scenes image from Dexter: New Blood shows the actresses who played Kurt Caldwell’s victims goofing off on set. New Blood recently wrapped its 10-episode arc, ending with Harrison killing Dexter. The limited series did fairly well with fans and critics until its final episode, which has proven to be quite divisive. That being said, the show is considered by many to be better than the Dexter season 8 finale, which is part of the reason why Clyde Phillips created Dexter: New Blood.

While New Blood heavily focused on Dexter reconnecting with his son, the season also introduced a new adversary to the former blood spatter analyst. Clancy Brown’s character Kurt Caldwell ended up being the villain of the series, a serial killer who has been kidnapping and killing women for 25 years. The young girls were thought to be missing runaways for decades, but they never actually left Iron Lake. After Kurt killed them, he embalmed them displayed them in trophy cases in his underground bunker. The reveal was quite shocking, especially for Angela, who had been searching for these victims for years.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

A new image from Dexter: New Blood writer Scott Reynolds shows director Marcos Siega and Jack Alcott (Harrison) on set in Kurt’s trophy room. The image shows the victims stepping out of their cases and talking in-between takes. The writer’s original post can be seen below:

Kurt may not have been able to top classic Dexter villains like the Ice Truck Killer or the Trinity Killer, but the scene where Dexter and Harrison discover his underground bunker was truly chilling. His embalming process had been teased throughout the season while he was still killing women, yet his trophies weren’t fully revealed until episode 9, “The Family Business.” Episode 9 proved to be one of the highest-rated episodes of Dexter: New Blood, with Dexter finally telling Harrison the truth and involving him in his kill ritual when he murders Kurt.

It’s always fun to see goofy behind-the-scenes images, especially from shows that are as serious as Dexter. Reynolds recently revealed that Dexter: New Blood is getting a home release. The DVD, Blu-Ray, and limited edition steelbook are all coming with 30 minutes of special features, which will give viewers a never-before-seen look at the show. It’s unknown exactly what the bonus features will include, but with the series officially over, it’s possible the cast and crew on the show will start sharing more behind-the-scenes photos in the coming months.
