Among the MCU’s Phase 4 most anticipated movies is Thor: Love and Thunder, the fourth solo movie of the God of Thunder and which will see the return of some beloved characters from past Thor movies, as are Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) and Lady Sif (Jamie Alexander). Plot details about Thor: Love and Thunder are a mystery, but what’s known is that Jane will become Mighty Thor, the Guardians of the Galaxy will appear, and the villain to defeat will be Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale). With no plot details and the release date fast approaching, anticipation over the first Thor: Love and Thunder trailer only grows, more so as this has been an odd move from Marvel.

The Thor: Love and Thunder trailer release has been a talked-about topic on social media, as Marvel usually releases the trailer for its movies around five months before their release date, but even that has changed in Phase 4. Thor: Love and Thunder is scheduled for a July 8 release, so the first trailer should have already been released, yet there are no hints on when it could possibly arrive. Still, early press for the movie has officially begun, and to celebrate, Chris Hemsworth shared a photo on his Instagram account with director Taika Waititi and Tessa Thompson – but did they just subtly reveal the Thor: Love and Thunder trailer release date with their hand gestures?

Twitter user AnotherMarvelGuy shared Hemsworth’s pic suggesting that their “odd hand gestures” could be hiding the release date for the first Thor: Love and Thunder trailer. According to the tweet, Taika Waititi’s hands form an 11, Hemsworth’s are a four, and Thompson’s stand for “22”, meaning that the trailer could be released on Monday, April 11, 2022. While it could definitely be a stretch, crazier predictions and hidden messages have happened in the MCU before (let’s not forget when fans pointed out that a photo shared by the Russo Brothers had “Endgame” spelled all over it, and it turned out to be the title of the fourth Avengers movie), and April 11 is actually a believable date for the Thor: Love and Thunder trailer. Marvel has released many of its trailers on Mondays, so it’s not an odd day for a Marvel trailer, and as the clock is ticking for Thor: Love and Thunder, it’s possible the trailer is on its way to be released next week.

Whether Waititi, Hemsworth, and Thompson were truly hinting at the Thor: Love and Thunder trailer release date with their hand gestures or not is unknown (and might remain as such), but the release date prediction might be accurate – and with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness arriving in May, Marvel will surely want to release the trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder before so it can be attached to Doctor Strange 2 in theaters.
