Disenchantment: The Worst Thing Each Main Character Did In Season Three

Season 3 of Disenchantment carries on the story of the intrepid, although complicated, Princess Bean and her two besties, Luci and Elfo, after they all accidentally gatecrash an underground cavern populated by mole-people (Trøgs). Also, her mother, Queen Dagmar, whom she had believed to be dead all along, and for the second time, makes her cliffhanger appearance with panache.

Things get a lot more confusing for Bean, both on the parental front — with King Zøg allegedly “descending into madness” and Dagmar continuing on with her inscrutable scheming — as well as on the romantic front, as the young princess falls in love for the first time, with a mermaid named Mora. The other characters have their own adventures on the side, of course, but not everything they do is sensible (or nice).

10 Derek — Invents His Own Constitution

Bonny Prince Derek is now the King of Dreamland, but he certainly doesn’t act like it. Odval and the Archdruidess decide to take advantage of his innocence and immaturity like they had earlier when convincing him to sentence his own sister to death.

They give him a list of laws and edicts to read out to the court, but when Merkimer the Pig goads him into it, Derek starts randomly inventing rules out of thin air. Strangely, his version of the kingdom is strikingly liberal and democratic, but there’s no way it’s going to work in that world.

9 Sorcerio — His Silly Winking

Sorcerio, the royal court wizard, is not the most annoying character in the story, but his persistent rejection of Odval’s basic instruction borders on the tiresome.

His partner informs him that there is no reason to say the word “wink” while performing the action at the same time, mostly because it pretty much reveals that they have been plotting something (to any eavesdropping stranger.) Sorcerio doesn’t understand this (or pretends not to), much to Odval’s chagrin.

8 Odval — Tries To Assassinate Zøg

Odval, on the other hand, is actually scheming to murder King Zøg in his sleep, but they opt to wait until he dies from his attack (an accidental one caused by Bean). Zøg mistakenly comes to know of the plan and makes a deal with the loyal Pendergast to smuggle him out of the castle and to safety.

Unfortunately, this ploy is uncovered, and Zøg finds that his knight has been beheaded for this “crime” and that he is going to be buried alive. The Archdruidess is directly involved in this, but Odval’s role is speculated.

7 Bunty — Has A Sleepover In Bean’s Bed

Bunty clearly has some deep-rooted rage problems, likely derived from the horrible manner in which she is treated by the royal household (and everyone else).

It seems that she takes it out on her employers in the form of passive-aggressive behavior, such as when Bunty happily brings her kids so they can all sleep in Princess Bean’s bed. This would have been understandable, had Little Bunty, her smallest child, not revealed that she had been “conceived in this bed,” which is a gross violation of trust.

6 Oona — Leaves Bean To Deal With Things

Oona, the Pirate Queen, attends her son’s wedding to a fairy named Sagatha, but realizes that she’s needed longer because of her ex-husband’s mental capacity and the assassination attempt instigated by the Archdruidess in broad daylight.

She helps Bean come to terms with several of her emotions, mostly by letting her have a psychedelic trip on some sort of hallucinogenic substance. However, when things start to get dicey, Oona tells her step-daughter that she has to go be a pirate again.

5 Luci — Tricks Zøg With A Stray Cat

Bean requests Luci to remain behind with her father, while she and Elfo travel to Steamland, and he grudgingly accepts this task. Sadly for him, the king treats him like a pet cat, which is horribly humiliating for the little demon.

What’s worse is when Zøg plants a ruff around his neck and takes him for a walk through the town. However bad it might have been, it was terrible of Luci to swap places with a talking cat. Given the man’s condition, he should have at least tried to be more responsible.

4 Zøg — Can’t Stop Thinking/Talking About Food

To be fair, King Zøg’s mind is far too scattered to do anything really awful this season, but his psychological state does result in some bizarre outcomes. For instance, he starts randomly bursting into honks and other strange sounds, which is justifiable after his underground stint in a coffin.

But then he constantly brings up food items at the strangest of times, as shown when he asks Oona if this or that dish would be available in the kitchens. This continues even when the scenario has turned deadly serious.

3 Elfo — He Uses Trixy

Trixy the Trøg exhibits an eerie level of affection for Elfo, but the elf is all for it in the beginning. Sure, she does come off a bit too strong at times, making her new lover nervous, but she’s a genuinely kind character. For example, she helps them break out of prison and escape from Queen Dagmar.

What does Elfo do? Completely forget about Trixy, until she finds him again later. At this point, he is happy to go along with her ideas, implying that he thinks of her as nothing more than a means to an end.

2 Dagmar — Tries To Arrange Bean’s Marriage (?)

Dagmar has done a lot of atrocious things in her life, from trying to literally petrify her husband with an elaborate magic potion to tricking her daughter into fulfilling some ancient prophecy. Thankfully, she disappears for a large chunk of the mid-season, but when she returns at the climax, it is to abduct Bean and drag her all the way down to what looks like the bowels of Hell.

Here, her daughter sees a silhouetted man standing at an altar, and Dagmar announces that “the bride has arrived,” which suggests that she wants to marry Bean off to him (consensually or otherwise.)

1 Bean — Abandons Her Father To A Mysterious Fate

Bean comprehends the difficulty that Dreamland is in and hesitantly concludes that it would be best for her to take the throne (when Elfo reminds her that she has been doing her father’s job the whole time without realizing it). Still, instead of making sure that Zøg is taken care of properly, she ships him off somewhere with Chazzzzz of Dankmire.

She may have believed that he would ensure her dad’s well-being, but he brings the ex-king to a supremely creepy looking asylum.
