A new video shows the ongoing construction of Disney World’s TronLightcycle Run, a new rollercoaster. The rollercoaster is based on the Tron film franchise, consisting of 1982’s Tron and 2010’s Tron: Legacy. Both films star Jeff Bridges and revolve around his character, Kevin Flynn, being pulled into the digital world of video games where he is forced to participate in gladiatorial-style games, one of which features the distinctive Tron lightcycles. The neon-accented lightcycles are used in what equates to a multiplayer version of Snake, as the cycles leave trails of light behind them, with opponents losing if they strike the other’s trailing light.

Disney World has begun constructing the Tron Lightcycle Run, which will let riders strap into a lightcycle, allowing them to race through the digital frontier. The Tron rollercoaster is a new addition to Tomorrowland in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, which is a perfect fit for Tron‘s futuristic aesthetics. In a new video shared to Twitter by WDW Youtuber, the Tron Lightcycle Run is seen under construction, featuring unique curved designs that will help bring the world of the films to life. The Tron Lightcycle Run was initially slated to open for Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration, which kicked off in October 2021. However, the coaster is still under construction, with no known opening date. Still, Shanghai Disney already features a similar Tron rollercoaster, letting riders know what to expect from the look and launch setup. Further details on the Tron Lightcycle run will be forthcoming as construction continues.
