As much of a DPS check that Lieutenant Gray was, in Division 2‘s Operation Iron Horse Raid, the second boss, Captain Fieser, is a tough one with multiple teams getting stuck on him during the race to world’s first. This boss lives up to the theme of the Foundry with fire, lava, and scorching temperatures being at the forefront. This fight is all about coordination and timing with multiple things needed to be done by each team member. If ever there was a fight that everyone needs to buy-in, it’s this one.

The Fieser fight takes any of the team coordination aspects right out the window from Operations Dark Hours with a different type of team coordination. With multiple elements in this fight, we’ll highlight each one to make life easier because it can be easy to get lost if it’s the first time in the encounter. Some elements spill into others as it’s the nature of this encounter. Multiple players will have to do different jobs along the way so dedicate people to handling two or three at a time will be necessary.

Error Codes in Fieser Fight for Division 2

The first element is the error codes, and they are in two places. The first location to find the codes is by going into the middle room where doors, A, B, and C eventually open up, leading to the turret that has two water cannons on each side of it. Inside the turret room, above door B, has a sign that has the error code on it but this code is a partial one. For example, if the code is showing as _M#_2_ it will line up with the one in the control room, located above door B, which for this example could be MM#425. The person in the control room, who should be in a healer build, gets the code from someone who’s in the turret room and go to where the six television screens are in the control room. Match the code to the picture on the screens, relay it to the team below, who will reset the boxes linked to the power.

Using Power in The Fieser Fight for Division 2

Having power and resetting the systems is the next element that needs to be addressed. On the outside of the turret room, outside the three doors, each section has two red power boxes. These are used to reset the error codes. When the control room gives the symbol to the rest of the team, they will have to find the correct red box to shoot down. To find the right box, line up the yellow wire from them that leads to a panel that looks like it has a blue WiFi signal on it. When walking close to the panel, it will open up to reveal either a symbol, a red error screen, or a green activation screen. If a red error screen appears, it means the wrong power box was hit and players need to get a new error code from the turret room. Shooting the correct box starts the encounter with Fieser. After he spawns, the codes need to be relayed continuously to the control room. When the encounter happens, another issue with power is that the control room must be continually powered or else the power will be shut off by enemies and the doors to the turret room will not be able to open until it gets reset. To reset the power, on the outside of the control room on the wall, there is a switch on each side of the room that must be flipped at the same time. This will reboot the system and everything will work again. It’s best to have players take out the enemies before they get to the switches to save time.

Using Water in the Fieser Fight in Division 2

Now that the error codes are in place and the control room is always operational, the next factor is the water pressure. This is a tricky item to take care of because it’s another layer to think about for the people on the ground floor. On top of finding the correct box, they need to get the water pressure to a certain level to get the water cannons working in the turret room. The boss can burn anything in the turret room with one fell swoop with his flamethrower, and they drop his flame thrower range, damage, and cooldown frequency. There is another important aspect to the cannons, but we’ll mention that later when it comes time to the take on the actual turret. To get the pressure to the required level, inside the control room, on the wall opposite to the six computer screens, is the pressure valve. When the number of the valve falls between 80-85, the switch must be flipped, and the water cannons can be used. To get the pressure into this range, there are valves located close to the three doors on the outside of the turret room. It’s easiest to get three 25 gauges, and one 15 pressure valve activated as the number will drop to the required range up in the control room.

Using RPGs Against Captain Fieser in Division 2

The last element to deal with is the RPGs that enemies will drop. These weapons are the linchpin to getting everything to work. When the error codes are entered, and the encounter begins, enemies will start coming out of the woodworks. These enemies will drop the RPGs and have the same glow as an elite item that can be picked up. Once picked up, it can be carried and used right away instead of the players’ current weapons. When carried, they need to be dropped into the different lettered doors. They need to be put there whenever possible, and ready to be used inside the turret room. This also means that a player with a hazard protection-type tank build needs to be in the middle at all times to get the rockets and fire them when necessary. That player can damage the boss but for now, it doesn’t matter too much until the turret goes down. A small tip here is that the boss as a glowing orb that when his life drops enough, he will try to heal. Hit the orb and his heal stops. He also has an AOE attack that can be avoided by exiting out the doors when he runs to the turret to activate it. The target is the turret itself but it has to be when the alarm sounds to signal that it will fire. At this time, it will aim at the control room, and this is the moment to use two rockets to blow up the red lights on the front of it to disable it. If it doesn’t get destroyed, it’s an auto-wipe for the group. The turret gets triggered when there are no players in the middle turret area for three seconds.

Killing Captain Fieser in Division 2

All these various factors to think about are enough to drive any team batty, but now that each is in place, it’s time to beat Fieser. Once five errors are fixed, it will allow the middle panel in the control room to activate the crucible that contains lava in it. The crucible will raise in the air but it will be blocked off on the top rail because it needs to get to the turret to put a stop to it once and for all to allow Fieser to get killed. There are small blocks along the rail that need to be shot down. When the crucible reaches the turret, use the water cannons to drop the lava then on the lava itself to crush it. Once it’s down, focus on Fieser and finish him off.
