Sam and Dean Winchester from Supernatural have had 15 long seasons to convey all their deepest secrets to the fans. Viewers have come to know all the ins and outs of the brothers as many have aged with them throughout the continuity of the series.

However, because Supernatural has been going on for so long, some of the facts about the brothers, like if they have any other siblings, is sometimes overshadowed by the rest of the series or are totally forgotten over the course of the numerous episodes.

10 Do Dean & Sam Have Siblings?

Sam and Dean actually do have one more sibling, a younger brother named Adam. Adam Milligan, the half-brother to the Winchester brothers. John Winchester fathered Adam sometime after Mary passed and he was on the road hunting a lot. He met Kate Milligan, Adam’s mom, and the two had a child together.

Adam actually died in season 4 at the hands of some pretty nasty ghouls but was resurrected, and then became the vessel for Michael after Sam and Dean rejected him as their brother. During the fight of the apocalypse, Sam trapped himself, Adam, Lucifer, and Michael in Lucifer’s cage, only to be rescued by Castiel. Adam, however, remained trapped down there with the two godly beings. Poor Adam.

9 Do Dean & Sam Have Children?

This one is a bit of a doozy, but the answer is yes. Dean accidentally conceived a child with Lydia, an Amazon who had a one-night stand with the Winchester brother in order to have a child. The child, Emma, was born two days after conception and grows up ridiculously fast.

After manipulating Dean, Emma tries to kill him and Sam because they were threats to the Amazon, so Sam does what the Winchesters do best, he killed the monster, right in front of Dean.

8 Named After Maternal Grandparents

Both Sam and Dean have names based on their maternal grandparents, as was revealed in the season 4 episode, “In the Beginning.” Dean was named after their maternal grandmother, Deanna Campbell, and Sam after their maternal grandfather, Samuel Campbell.

Deanna and Samuel were both hunters who raised Mary to be one as well and died to Azazel, the same yellow-eyed demon who later goes on to kill Mary.

7 Biggest Regrets

In the season seven episode “Defending Your Life,” it is revealed that one of Dean’s biggest regrets up to that point was the death of Jo. Jo was a young hunter, the daughter of Ellen, and rather close to both of the Winchesters. A romance plot had been slowly building between Jo and Dean but during the apocalypse arc in season five, she suffered from a hellhound attack.

Jo was doomed, and Ellen refused to leave her side and decided to go with her. After kissing her goodbye, Dean gave her a detonator that would explode the building where she, Ellen, and all the hellhounds were. In the season seven episode, the two reunited for a short time before having to say goodbye to each other once more.

6 Lawyer Up

In that same season seven episode with Jo and Dean, Dean is on trial by the Egyptian god, Osiris, for all of his past mistakes and guilts. But Sam steps up to be Dean’s lawyer in the case.

Before the two brothers went off hunting around America, Sam was in law school at Stamford, a fact that is easily forgettable since it hasn’t really been mentioned much after season one. Sam had always meant to return to school but eventually got sucked into the world of the monsters.

5 Phobias

Considering all the crazy and horrifying creatures the Winchester brothers deal with on a daily, they each have a phobia that has been minorly relevant at some point in the series. Dean has pteromerhanophobia, which is the fear of flying.

This is revealed in the episode “Phantom Traveler” in season one. Sam has coulrophobia, the fear of clowns. Sam’s fear comes up a bit more often than Dean’s and has actually been relevant to a few cases the boys have had to deal with, though he didn’t fear John Wayne Gacy in “Back and to the Future.”

4 Oprah

The Oprah Winfrey Show has been brought up a decent amount of time throughout the many seasons of Supernatural. In the season one episode “Bugs,” Dean references that he saw something he and Sam had been discussing on an Oprah show.

The fact that Dean watched The Oprah Winfrey Show greatly surprised Sam. Dean being an Oprah fan continues in the series as he makes comments about her again in seasons three, four, and seven.

3 Cats

In the fifteenth episode of season eight, “Man’s Best Friend With Benefits,” it is revealed that Dean Winchester isn’t too much into animals. He doesn’t really care for dogs unless he especially bonds with them, and he is actually super allergic to cats.

In the episode, Dean gets a bit allergic around the familiar Phillippe LeChat, who can become a cat in his animal form. “LeChat” is even a play on words and translates to “the cat” in French.

2 Magic

During the twelfth episode of season four, it is revealed that Sam went through a magician phase when he was 13 years old as he and Dean get to a town full of old-school magicians.

The brothers are initially interested in the town  Of course, Sam got super excited by all the magic around him and really enjoyed all the recognizable people around him. Sam having a magician phase honestly makes just so much sense for this character.

1 The Impala

Another fact that was established very early on in the series but that is widely forgotten is how Dean came to have the 1967 Chevrolet Impala. The Impala was passed down to him by John Winchester. In the episode “In the Beginning,” it is revealed that Dean (who had gone back in time to 1973) was the one who convinced his father to buy it over a Volkswagon.

The original license plate was KAZ 2Y5, a reference to the Winchesters’ home state, Kansas, and the year 2005 when the series began. The Impala, however, is not the only thing Dean inherited from his father. He also got his leather jacket, which Dean wore throughout the first few seasons of the series.
