Doctor Strange Astral Form Revealed In New Multiverse Of Madness Merch

Doctor Strange’s astral form returns in new merch for 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Thanks to numerous schedule reshufflings, the second solo movie for Dr. Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) will now debut in May 2022, one year after its original May 2021 release date. The road to the big screen has not been easy for Doctor Strange 2. Even before all the release delays, its original director, Scott Derrickson, departed the project over creative differences. He was later replaced by Sam Raimi, and filming kicked off near the end of 2020. Due to the massive scope of Doctor Strange 2, plus various COVID restrictions, the movie has recently undergone extensive reshoots as well and is expected to wrap soon.

Nevertheless, there’s a great deal of excitement surrounding Doctor Strange 2, and that’s largely because of its tackling of that thorny, exciting concept known as the multiverse. Plot details are still largely being kept under wraps, but the movie will see the returns of characters like Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Baron Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor). Touted as the first MCU movie to hold horror shades, Doctor Strange 2 has received conflicting reports about who its villain will be, with everyone from Nightmare to Scarlet Witch being contenders at various points.

Nevertheless, it’s clear Doctor Strange will be going up against a massive threat in Multiverse of Madness, and he’ll need every asset in his skillset to win. That includes his astral form, first seen in 2016’s Doctor Strange. As part of the new Marvel Legends line for Multiverse of Madness (via Entertainment Earth), fans can purchase a figure of Doctor Strange’s astral form. It’s a translucent figure and features alternate hands and accessories. It also has a piece of Rintrah, Doctor Strange’s minotaur assistant. Check out the figure down below.

The presence of the astral form figure in the Doctor Strange 2 toy line indicates the hero will use this skill a fair amount in the upcoming film. Astral forms played a big part in the 2016 original, and Doctor Strange raised some eyebrows when he pushed Peter Parker’s astral form out in the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer. In the time since the first Doctor Strange, the character has become far more skilled in the mystic arts, which means he could even utilize some new aspects of the astral plane in Multiverse of Madness.

It’s expected that the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home will bring forth new information about Doctor Strange 2. Cumberbatch has a role in the Spidey flick, and it delves into the multiverse in a big way. The emergence of new merchandise has only increased fans’ interest in the movie; there’s still so much about Doctor Strange 2 that remains a mystery, and each new toy or puzzle has led to more theories about what could be in store.
