Warning! Spoilers for The Death of Doctor Strange: Strange Academy #1 by Marvel Comics

The death of Doctor Strange continues to impact the Marvel Universe, as Strange Academy will cancel all classes after discovering its founder has been murdered. In a new preview for The Death of Doctor Strange: Strange Academy #1, classes at Marvel’s Hogwarts are canceled after Doctor Voodoo informs the student population the greatest magic user (and a hero most of them look up to) was killed.

In the current Marvel Comics continuity, Doctor Strange was killed by an unknown assailant in the current event, The Death of Doctor Strange. The Sorcerer Supreme’s death has had catastrophic effects on the Marvel Universe, as the magical protective barrier surrounding Earth disappeared after he died, allowing many supernatural threats waiting in the wings to attack his domain. Among them are the Three Mothers, a group of terrifying villains who are so powerful, they just embarrassed the Avengers on their home turf. In his place, a temporal remnant of Doctor Strange arrived to solve his own murder. As that happens, Marvel just revealed Doctor Strange’s school would suspend classes for the time being.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

In a new preview for The Death of Doctor Strange: Strange Academy #1 by Skottie Young, Mike del Mundo, Marco D’Alfonso, and VC’s Clayton Cowles (H/T Multiversity), the story flashes back to Doctor Strange assisting the Enchantress against a threat against her children. Meanwhile, the greatest young sorcerers from across the Marvel Universe find out about Doctor Strange’s death.

Doctor Voodoo breaks the news to the students, confirming that what they have heard is true and Doctor Strange is dead. He immediately lets the students know the Sorcerer Supreme’s death will have a significant impact across “every dimension, realm, and plane of existence.” To keep his students safe, he informs the students at Strange Academy that classes will be suspended until further notice. Instead of learning magic at Marvel’s version of Hogwarts, the students will be sent home for an unknown amount of time until Doctor Voodoo and the teachers can figure out how to proceed.

Shutting down Strange Academy, for the time being, might seem like a rash decision, but it’s not at all. With Doctor Strange dead, there’s no telling what kind of magical threats could attack the school and try to kill or influence the next generation of magic users. If someone is killing sorcerers in the Marvel Universe, the students could be in immediate danger. Marvel’s version of Hogwarts will continue eventually, but for now, students getting sent home keeps everybody safe. The Death of Doctor Strange: Strange Academy #1 is in comic book stores on November 3rd.
